OGIO All Elements Golf Bags Review

OGIO continues to impress with its extensive range of stylish, premium range of golf bags and ancillary products that are as eye-catching as they are useful.

Well designed and packed with innovative features, they tick all the boxes for travelling golfers as well as those looking for something well-made, reliable and practical to rely on for everyday rounds at the course rain or shine.

The company, owned by Callaway, was formed in 1987 and quickly became noted internationally for its eye catching designs.

It produces a wide range of bags for the general travel market, but of most interest to us is the golf equipment, which includes cart, stand and pencil bags, golf travel covers, towels and headcovers.

Many come in a range of colours from demure blacks and greys to loud and colourful prints so there is something for everybody, especially if you want your kit to be the talking point at your club.

Making a statement through design is one thing - we put some of the current products on test to see if they are as good as they look.

All Elements Silencer Cart Bag

Our sample arrived sporting its jazzy Safari print - prominently black and white spots and flashes giving a nod to the beasts of the Serengeti. With vivid green highlights and bright red zips it has certainly raised eyebrows and mixed opinions at my home club, Hallamshire in Sheffield. I like its distinctive appearance but can see why some might think it’s a little over the top. It came with a matching towel which looks just the ticket and is large enough to deal with any golfing eventualities where a quick wipe is required.

OGIO Towel

The "Silencer" in the name refers to OGIO’s patented club protection system in the form of a 15 way moulded rubber top designed to keep your clubs apart, preventing the distracting clanging together when the trolley is in motion. The system is perfect for arranging your sticks making them easy to locate and extract from the bag, although I found its silencer aspect only about 90 per cent efficient.

"All Elements" refers to its waterproofing provided by the material and its seam sealed zips. It has hardly rained in the UK since the sample arrived but a hosepipe test proved 100 per cent successful.

It has plenty of spacious pockets for storage of everything required. My only quibble is the lack of any D rings to attach accessories, although there is a loop and I managed to attach a large carabiner to the carry handle.

All Elements Hybrid Stand Bag

OGIO Stand Bag

Stand bags are essential for travel and often the only option in the winter months in the UK when trolleys are banned due to adverse ground conditions. There are many who prefer to carry whatever the weather though so this is a great alternative to its big brother the All Elements cart bag. Available in the same colourways, players can still make a statement with this bag which again offers a bright and cheery design while being lightweight, comfortable to carry and practical. It features a stripped down version of the silencer top, so woods and irons are kept separate for easy access. It also has a decent sized putter well.

The bag is fully waterproof featuring similar materials and zips. There is a silo pocket to hold three balls to save opening up the bag to reload if necessary, and the interior storage is spacious enough for waterproofs and extra clothing.

The bag’s shoulder straps are excellent, very comfortable, ensuring a well balanced bag across your back. It also stands easily on uneven ground and a strap secures the legs when not in use so it can be readily attached to a buggy when abroad. Again I would prefer D rings but that is a quibble.

Alpha Travel Cover Mid

Golf travel bags need to be robust to withstand rough handling at airports in order to keep your clubs secure and in one piece and strong to prevent accidental damage through fabric ripping and flimsy zips. They need to be easily manoeuvred with quality wheels, good balance and plenty of grab points. Combining these elements with lightweight is a bonus, preventing extra charges for overweight. It also helps it they are distinctive to be easily identified at a carousel to ensure your clubs aren't accidentally taken by someone thinking the bag looks just like theirs.

The Alpha bag addresses these needs well and it seems as if OGIO have gone the extra mile to ensure trouble free travel.

This bag is large enough to take a stand or cart bag, a pair of shoes and various bits and bobs. There are interior straps to secure your clubs, adequate padding and a durable outer fabric to withstand all manner of rough handling. Extra strapping protects the zips and there are plenty of grab points to prevent accidental rips through mishandling. All this comes in at 8.82kg unpacked so there is plenty of weight available for your clubs and belongings.

With plenty of colourways to choose from golfers are very unlikely to see their bag carried off by somebody else.

There is nothing to fault this bag - it is easy to push or pull around an airport and load into a boot and it folds down neatly for easy storage while you plot your next trip away.
