Portugal's Largest Course Operator Expands Accomodation Options

By: Golfshake Editor | Fri 24 Mar 2017

The largest golf management company in Portugal, Lisbon Golf has expanded its hotel accomodation options following the redevelopment of the popular Tryp Costa Caparica and the inclusion of the widely regarded Casa Palmela.

Situated within easy access of the lively and cultural capital city, Lisbon, the ORIZONTE group portfolio is now a firm favourite with golfers across Europe thanks to its stunning and challenging collection of seven golf courses and its continued commitment to customer service.

ORIZONTE also boasts a selection of well-established accommodation options dotted within the beautiful Costa Azul region – and in Lisbon city – and the management group has just launched some stunning new stay-and-play golf packages incorporating its Quinta do Peru and Aroeira courses.

Hotel Casa Palmela is situated just four miles from the Natural Reserve of Sado Estuary, in the heart of the Arrabida Natural Park – one of Portugal’s most naturally magnificent areas. This luxurious boutique hotel has unspoilt views of the lush green Arrabida mountain range that merges seamlessly with the azure waters of the Atlantic Ocean and is a 40-minute drive to Aroeira and 30 from Quinta do Peru.

Although only 20 miles from the hustle and bustle of Lisbon, the capital will feel a world away once you pass the gated entrance through vineyards to Casa Palmela, where after testing yourself on the golf course, you can relax by the seasonal outdoor pool or on the sun terrace.

Four nights at Casa Palmela, with a round at Quinta do Peru and two rounds at Aroeira, starts from just €518 (£440), while a seven-night stay, with two rounds at each course, starts from €825 (£715).

There is also the option of staying at the newly refurbished Tryp Costa Caparica, which is located right on the sea just 30 minutes from the airport.

Aroeira is just eight miles away from Caparica, while Quinta do Peru is 18 miles inland, making the hotel, which boasts a spa, outdoor pool, two restaurants, a gym and a kid’s club, the perfect base whether you wish to explore Lisbon or just relax and enjoy unrivalled views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Four nights at the Tryp Costa Caparica, with three green fees at Quinta do Peru and Aroeira, in April, starts at €300 (£260), while a seven-night stay, with five green fees, is €500 (£435). There is a charge for single supplement for both hotels.

Quinta do Peru Golf & Country Club (Feature Review), which is just 15 minutes from Casa Palmela, has established itself as one of Portugal’s top golfing venues with its 6,660-yard, par-72 parkland layout.

This beautiful Rocky Roquemore-designed course, which opened in 1994, is rated among the top 100 courses in Europe in the highly respected Golf World magazine rankings between 1999 and 2014.

Created by Frank Pennick, Aroeira, which played host to the Portuguese Open in 1996 and 1997, was once dubbed the ‘Wentworth of Lisbon’ as it meanders through tall pine trees, reminiscent of some of Surrey and Berkshire’s finest old clubs.

Together with its sister course – Aroeira II – is spread over 350 hectares of estate surrounded by thousands of pines and several lakes, and boasts a golf school, clubhouse, tropical swimming pool and tennis courts that can all to be enjoyed within a temperature microclimate.

ORIZONTE has gained an enviable reputation for delivering some of the best golfing experiences on the market thanks to its stunning array of challenging courses, luxurious accommodation in a region of outstanding natural beauty.

And that glowing reputation has grown further with the opportunity to stay at either Casa Palmela or Hotel Costa Caparica.
