Course too wet, drainage needs to be improved dramatically. Excellent challenging cours let down badly by its drainage

Sorry but I cant imagine why anyone would pay to play this course...The fairways are practiclly unplayable for 8-9months of the year. The management are rude and do nothing to make you feel welcome and the resturant is average to say the least. AVOID THIS COURSE !!! take my advice and travel the 10 miles down the coast to play any of the excellent Ayrshire Links courses....

Played the course in mid October when we were advised it was a little 'heavy'. While the greens were in good condition the drainage on the fairways was completely inadequate with standing water on every fairway. I have never encountered such poor conditions, nor been so dirty when completing a round. While I acknowledge that the unusually wet weather in 2012 affected most courses the fact that the club continued to offer the course for visitors suggests what their aim was. My experience certainly means I will never return.

first time I played course. Was really nice, though very open. Needs trees. Amazing amount of bunkers which was good. Seems very long course despite stated length. took over four hours for a fourball.
..... Course itself was a bit soggy. Disappointed a we bit at state of fairways. Loads and loads of divots not repaired. Though I'd guess this was due to members not replacing them more than anything. Signage on the course is non existent either. I was fortunate to be playing with a member who guided me from green to Tee, but if I was on my own I'd definitely have gotten lost.
On the positive. The course is very well laid out with the holes being well thought out. Some lovely dogleg holes and the par three's were all excellent.
overall I would recommend it. but go onto cheap tee times to book, as it is a bit overpriced at normal rate.

not for high handicappers like me,rough is very high and teeing off over a valley is never easy but is made ridiculously hard by the fact that if you hit short there is no chance of retrieving your ball, bunkers placed across the fairway at 100 to 150 yards meant they were almost unavoidable for me,
i would not go back

Needs work

A great layout pity about the poor drainage both on fairways and first cut of rough. Greens area fantastic and totally playable. Played the hole course off a Matt that's was the only way to make any kind of score.

Booked through tee off times as a birthday treat to myself, beautiful day to play golf, before going out the gentleman in the pro shop advised it was a little soggy in places. The course itself is great, challenging yet fair, great views and a great variance in holes. The par 3's in particular are gorgeous. However the course does need work, it seems to have a real issue with drainage, drainage ditches were soggy whilst fairways were sodden. This course could be a real gem but really does require work to allow it to play up to its potential.

Fantastic summer course when its dry but pick your days to play according to weather conditions if you can.
Great facilities both on and off the course. Best roll in sausage in the area.
