What the club says: This is a public course situated to the south of Kilmarnock with a par of 68. It is a parkland setting in the grounds of Caprington Estate and provides the golfer with an enjoyable experience throughout the year.
Whilst not being the most difficult to play, it is well worth visiting as it has some excellent feature holes.
There is also a superb nine-hole par three tract, ideal for both the young and inexperienced golfer. As a delightful climax to your round, you finish with a neat little par three aptly entitle "Hame".

Good condition for time of year

Played Caprington last Friday 8th March. To be fair, the greens had just been spiked and prepped for the season but course was in good order for the time of year. I had played the course years ago but couldn't remember much of it to be fair. The layout is decent, im not a fan of blind holes and there are a good few here, thats the only downside. Other than that its a decent track for an afternoon, I can imagine in summer it would be worth a go.

This is my home golf course that was once run by the local council but is now run by the members, since taking over the running & management of the course there has been a vast improvement to the course and its facilities we now have an excellent team of ground staff who work tirelessly to improve and maintain the course to a very high standard, its a par 69 not the longest by far but don't let that fool you it has some tricks up its sleeve with holes having undulating fairways, blind second shots, doglegs & number of strategically place sand bunkers guarding the greens that will offer a challenge to golfers of all abilities..!. it has a good sized clubhouse and facilities for the use of members and visitors.

Best I have seen it

I have played Caprington on and off over the last 30 years or so and I have to say it is currently in the best condition I have ever seen it.
The greens are superb(really quick) and the rest of the course is looking neat and tidy.
I you haven't played for a while or have never played it, give it a try.

good course, not sure if the par rating is correct 1 of the par 4s should be a five and 1 par 3 should be a 4. Some parts of the course retain a lot of water.
