Sadly this course has deteriorated since we last played. Weeds on greens and low standard of greens at present. Hold ups all around the course spoils enjoyment.

Greens were awful. Bare with hardly any grass. Had just been hogtied. Speed varied dramatically even on the same green. Would play again to see if they have improved as fairways and bunkers were good.

The greens were in good condition but that's about it. The tee boxes for a new course are no where near flat and the fairways are more like semi rough. Needs money pumping into the course asap.

Course was adequate for the time of year, course layout is different and challenging. The length of the course is probably the only thing making this a championship course. Give it another 5 years or so and this will be worthy of calling itself a championship course and holding amateur events.

Played the golf course for the first time since its gone back to its original layout on the weekend, The course was an absolute mess, The greens could do with getting watered as they are rock hard and are really bobbly,The fairways were also very hard and could do with some growth and the tees were uneven and very patchy, The green fee on the weekend is £25 which is a joke considering how badly maintained the course is, I would rather go and play a municipal for half the price, Its a shame really because the course has so much potential and could be one of the best in merseyside if they spent money on it and gave it abit of tlc, I will not be coming back for a while until things improve.

Played North West National at the weekend. Badly maintained. Do they have such a thing as a greenkeeper. The scary bunkers need a stone mason in them to clear all the stones, the so called greens are in badly need of grass on them. Hopefully the greenstaff go on this website. Would like to play this course again as it has some nice holes. Sort it out.

Very patchy fairways and greens. They've let it get far too dry and if they don't get the sprinklers on soon its going to get worse over the summer months. needs a bit more TLC.

Played today 8th march, arrived at Clarkes golf shop to find it closed 7am. When booking they had failed to inform us that the clubhouse had in fact moved now and was actually a couple of minutes drive away! quite inconvenient but still managed to tee off just 15 mins late. The course was playing off winter mats which on the whole were poor and definitely not level, and seemed to be a good distance further forward than the proper tees. This shortened the course considerably almost halving the length of 3 holes at least. The greens were in good nick though to be honest and the fairways don't seem to have suffered too much with the weather. My mate had recommended this course to us and did complain at the end, receiving a fiver off our rounds next time. At £22 we found it to be very overpriced in comparison with other courses in the area especially considering the difference to the course the winter tees had made, but agreed that we would return in summer when the course is playing to its full potential.

Unfortunately, NWN will not be gaining an extra £18.00 from my pocket! I understand the course had problems after setting up and requires time to grow but, 1-Tee boxes are very bumpy and badly maintained. 2-Fairways are very bumpy with patches of the finest weeds in a lot of places. Grass length is almost like a first cut of rough. 3-Bunkers are huge and littered with stones ranging from half an inch to 2 inch boulders. 4-Greens are absolutely dreadful, 14 out of 18 holes had absolutely no grass on them in large patches, honestly, I kid you not! Don't even bother trying to line up a putt on these greens, the ball will bounce and bobble where ever the pitch marks take it. Even the grass that was present has not seen a roller or mower for at least a fortnight. NWN is desperate for a substantial cash injection to fix a massive growing problem and requires a heap of TLC from dedicated green staff, my fear is that people will play once then never again. The course is set-out well with a hand full of very interesting holes and water features. If you are thinking about playing this course, don't let my opinion "putt" you off!

Fairways were quite bare in place, and some greens were very poor. Does drain very well, but needs to give the course a bit more time to recover in places otherwise its not going to be a good summer on there!
