Played the Cherington course @ Minchinhampton. Fairways running fast due to the dry weather and the greens were excellent pace. It looks fairly benign and easy scoring but if you don't stay on the fairway or miss the green count on loosing a shot to get back into position.
Good value for money and a good open style course.

A great venue. Organised a society event and played both courses over two days. Staff were excellent and Simon (event mgr) couldn't have been more helpful. Great food and club house facilities also. Real gem!

Played both courses in June 2016 having previously played at an early time in the year. All I can say is wow! seeing the course in full condition was impressive with well manicured fairways and excellent true fast greens which were a joy to putt on!

When I played in June the rough was quite punishing but thanfully more so for my playing partner than me but this also did impact the round time slightly.

Both courses are wonderful and I'd highly recommend to anyone looking to play golf in Gloucs. Nice friendly welcome from the staff and facilities excellent.

Welcoming. Outstanding condition. Requires thought, despite relative forgiveness for wayward shots - definite scoring opportunities but being out of position makes very tough to score well. Greens and bunkers excellent.

everything about this venue was spot on from the club facilities to the fairways and greens in excellent condition.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
They could not do enough to make sure our society day ran smooth and efficient.
overall experience was a great days golf had by all.

14 of us played the Cherington on the 13th May 2016. We were generally disappointed in the condition of the greens, but even more disappointed that no-one bothered to tell us that the greens had recently undergone extensive hollow coring and hadn't recovered fully. Also we were charged more than the club's advertised county card fee to play, which, given the green's condition was a bit naughty. Aside from the greens the clubhouse, range and facilities were good but the course layout was a little bit too much just up and down an open area without too many interesting features. Would not rule out visiting again but would definitely inquire as to the state of the course before committing to play.

The Avening course at Minchinhampton was in very condition for the time of year. More a parkland feel to the other course with plenty of trees and some water. big undulating greens and lots of bunkers.
