Inconsiderate 4 ball ruins day

Firstly for kings hill to be open where every other course was shut for wet conditions is a testament to the construction of the greens, which were reasonably firm, although recently cored and sanded. The course itself ( or what I saw of it) was strategic, undulating and interesting.

Unfortunately a 4 ball that had been instructed by pro shop staff (who were welcoming themselves) on the first tee to let myself and another single through did not oblige and so after waiting on nearly every shot for 2 hours I left the course after the 7th hole. This is a somewhat archaic attitude for 2023

Avoid

Heard so much about Kings Hill golf course so myself an two friends decided to throw caution to the wind and pay the expensive green fees (£46.00) compared to nearby courses and go play. Where do I start. We went to the range after purchasing 3 buckets of balls (if we got 20 each we were lucky). Off to the first tee, tee boxes are shocking, uneven, large divots in the marked boxes. Fairways are what I’d expect fro a rundown pay and play course, again divots all over not looked like they are or have ever been filled and every where there is tufts of different grass growing. We had to play preferred lye on most shots around the course. Then the greens which I have to say were fast given the time of year BUT a lot had bald patches, divots that had not been repaired and very uneven. Then back to the club house for a drink and a bite to eat late afternoon, NO FOOD, expensive drink and a welcome like the North Sea, we walked out.

In need of some love

This is a good course, well designed and pleasing mixture of holes in a quasi-links fashion. However, the years have not been kind and a lack of investment is clearly apparent as the course is looking pretty rough. It would be nice to see some definition to the fairways and a general maintenance of the place. And for a small amount of money you could install a shoe brush and air pressure washer to remove the mud. It's a real shame seeing the place look so tired and at a costly rate.

This course is pretty newish course and is laid out very well ,BUT who ever maintains this course or dictates the rough cut policy needs shooting ,the rough is there to punish you for a bad shot, not so you lose your ball when you roll off the 2nd cut( also to long and thick) the rough is so green and so thick that you could throw a ball five yards in front of you and you could not find it in alot of places and if you did find it often unplayable ,the bunkers where very good, the greens are also very slow a ball should not stop whilst putting on a steepish down hill break.even if you are having a great round and finding every fairway you will get stuck behind many others who are not and all the ball searching of others will ruin your flow and spoil your day.there is know point having rough at waist height between trees the punishment is the trees that make you play sideways ,I am very surprised to see that I am a lone voice on this and everyone else seems to love it.

Played here recently and found the course itself in very good condition however I was shocked at the state of the greens which ruined what should have been a pleasurable round of golf. I know that they have to carry out maintenance to the greens however my own club manages to keep the greens playable all year round. I may give it another chance sometime and hope for better greens. They really were of a standard more akin to a municipal pitch and putt.

Excellent all weather course

A fairly challenging course for the mid-handicapper, this course is well maintained and remains playable even after the wettest of weather.

heavy rough

Windy conditions and off line shots are punished by very long grass, often resulting in the loss of ball, makes the course less enjoyable for high handicappers
