Tight course with narrow fairways, accuracy is essential. If there has been persistent rain then the course tends to become waterlogged.

Ditches have been dug around the back 9 to help with drainage, and have now been there for over a year and there is no sign of them being filled in. This just spoils the course.

This is based on a game in February when the course was muddy and we played on winter tees and greens.
In the summer it is a very tight, challenging course.

Rubbish

This is my local course and I play the every week. It was badly flooded 2yrs ago and has never recovered. He clubhouse reopened two weeks ago but no pro or shop. The greens keepers are council grass cutters who regularly damage the greens by cutting when they are soaking and turning on the edge of the greens with the blades still down gouging lumps out. Also the drainage is silted and blocked meaning a day of rain and your struggling in mud for a week. I regularly have to take a 5 iron of the tee, as a well struck driver will disappear in the mud in the middle of a fairway. This used to be a fairly decent municipal course, it’s now barley playable, not enjoyable and certainly not worth the £20+ they will be charging for a weekend round.

It was easy to lose a ball with the amount of leaves on the course and they also stuck to your trolley and clocked up the front wheel. The main problem was the greens which had been sanded and hollow tined with large holes, putting was impossible.

Ditches have been dug at various points around the course to help with drainage, but the ones at the 14th hole have been there for over a year. Not very good.

Extremely muddy especially on the back 9 which should not have been open.

Short course, especially on the front 9. Player must resist always hitting the long ball and employ good course management using long irons to tee off on holes 5, 15, 16.
