gotton manor

Gatton manor is a hard course, if you don't play often, you need to be good of the tee, some tricky holes the 6th is the hardest, well looked after course but facilities have gone down hill...

bunkers and greens need some work, but it has huge potential to be a top course again.

Nice course

Nice course, greens a bit fluffy today. Out in the sticks but worth a visit. Clubhouse busy but not many on the course.

Challenging course

It's a challenging course & some difficult greens. It didn't help that greens had been heavily sanded but this time of year that happens. It was very busy due to the masters being on. The club should of identified that. 4.5 hours for a 2ball is too long.

Nice course with great potential

I enjoyed my round at gatton manor..I had seen some mixed reviews so went with an open mind...the greens we're not amazing but I could see some work in progress..the layout is great and the surroundings are in a very nice part of the countryside..I think with a bit more work on some small details around the course and facilities this place could step up to be fantastic...

I was looking forward to playing GM after a 2 year absence. My memory was of a tricky course always in pristine condition in beautiful grounds. Obviously, the period of closure has had a negative affect. First impressions are not great with the grounds close to the manor a little unkempt and the once pretty decent pro shop is still closed. However, the staff were friendly and the full English breakfast was very good. As for the course, it was a mixed bag. A combination of the hot weather and absence of maintenance made the fairways a bit of a lottery on lies with cracks, tufts and bare lies. Not terrible but not immaculate as they used to be. Tee boxes were split 50/50 - either really good and very poor. The bunkers were woeful. They had been raked to create an impression of quality but they were brick hard with barely any sand making it unduly penal for marginally wayward approach shots. The greens were actually pretty decent, consistent and with a good roll. As an aside, I think the stroke indices need revisiting. Pretty straight-forward par 3s had low SI's but a couple of the 400+yard dog leg par 4s had very high SI's. Finally, the 5th should be a par 4 not 5. Overall, the course and experience was fairly decent but naturally investment is needed to return it to the cracker of old.

Interesting course, challenging in places

A lovely course in the Surrey countryside. Making its way back from tough times when it nearly went under. Take sufficient 'tackle' as you may need, as the pro shop is quite basic at present.

Gatton Manor is still going through a period of change since it was recently purchased. The greens and fairways are not in the best of condition for a number of unforeseen reasons. We were assured that the course would be back to its old playable self within the next 6-8 weeks so I will definitely be looking to go back for another round to see how things are progressing... lots of potential to had!

Tough course

My first time out this year and this course took its toll.....I only play off 25 and having not played for 6 months the beat me.....but the course is in good shape and looks fantastic....enjoy your round
