Highly Recommended 2018
What the club says: Gatton Manor offers a mature 18 hole woodland course, established in the late 1960s. At 6,600 yards the challenging course is championship length, the work of renowned Canadian golf architect, Commander John D Harris. No two holes are alike and the Commander has made imaginative use of streams, lakes, and tree-lined fairways.

A proper golf course
A bit expensive but you get what you pay for, well kept and looked after course, highly recommend playing it.

Boggy hellhole
£40 is expensive to play 1st nine twice off slippery tee mats. After a wet few days, ball plugged into greens and fairways, course should not be open in this condition. Feel ripped off.

Challenging course
Good course with good mix of holes and good challenge but can be very wet

Nice course
Nice course, you can make it be a challenge if you want to. Good introduction to difficulty for newer golfers.(Round played: Dec 2020 - Score: 117 Handicap: 30)

Nice course, congested at weekends.
Nice course.I was due to play an 18 but decided early, along (along with 3 other groups waiting) that the four ball ahead were too slow and wrecking it for everybody. I guess that is Saturday afternoon golf for you but group behind me had no tee time and were just let straight on, so this explains why it was so congested. I was quite calm but there were a couple of lads back really losing it.
I enjoyed the course, some nice water holes and was already warned at check-in that the tees weren't the best, but they seemed ok.
I would come back and play an 18 here because the course was a challenge and in pretty good condition, but it would be early morning or midweek.

Poor
This place is in need of some TLC. The pro shop is like a tuck shop. The chipping practise area is an overgrown mess, that looks like someones back garden. There derelict buildings dotted about, all very weird. The tees are a muddy lumpy mess, the bunkers are all covered in weeds, you get the picture. For ?35 this is a very expensive joke of a course. However the bar and food were excellent.

Very short, and a little frustrating
When you have to tee off on a par 5 with a 4 iron because you?re going to run out of fairway it takes away a lot of the risk and reward.. overall in my opinion this was a crammed in 18 holes and although there were a couple of nice holes overall not for me

And great for society days

Many signature holes on this course
I'm a real fan of Gatton Manor. It's a parkland/woodland course with lots of memorable holes. These challenge you to think, and are satisfying to play well. There are ponds, streams and ditches throughout the course, which need decent planning for a good result. The course is in the middle of nowhere so is incredibly peaceful. Greens were in good shape just after Covid lockdown, but some facilities were still understandably closed.

Great layout but in need of some TLC!
I've played Gatton Manor a number of times over the last 12 years or so. This was my first visit in about 4 or 5 years. It really is a great layout but this place needs some significant attention spent on it. I know that it has been through lockdown and may not have received as much attention as it should have but compared to other clubs, it is not in great shape. The tees are very poor and the greens are okay but inconsistent in pace. But the course just looks scabby in a lot of places. When I first played here the course was luxurious, now it is tired. I understand that it is under new ownership - they really need to invest some time and money to return it to it's former glory. It would be a real shame if it went to ruin.(Round played: Jul 2020 - Score: 75 Handicap: 3.6)

gotton manor
Gatton manor is a hard course, if you don't play often, you need to be good of the tee, some tricky holes the 6th is the hardest, well looked after course but facilities have gone down hill...(Round played: Jun 2020 - Score: 99 Handicap: 21.3)

It has been in much better condition in the past eg tee boxes quite poor
It has suffered from a lack of maintenance possibly due the lack of rain and hot weather and the virus
Hope it recovers to former glory soon as a great course!!

1st 4 ball weekend after lock down
Busy busy busy!No social distancing that I could see as there were bacon rolls / burgers available to but=t=y before / after the round.
Pace was slow, with a busy course and as far as I could see lots of 4-balls. Conditions were ok at best but to be fair, I don't know how much the green staff have been able to do.
The whole place just feels a little 'shabby', rough tee boxes, grass clippings everywhere, bumpy greens. It's a shame because the course itself is inheretantly good, just needs some TLC.
