What the club says: The 18-hole main course is an attractive layout that challenges both the advanced single-figure handicap player as well as the golfing novice, with numerous strategically positioned bunkers and water features.

The 9-hole short course is the perfect warm-up prior to hitting the main course. With holes ranging from 60 yards up to 150 yards, it’s also great for honing the short game or simply to spend a fun hour with friends and family. This course is also available on a complimentary basis to Health Club members.

Nice parkland layout, have played many times before and always OK, not played for a few years as moved out of the area, played again as meeting up with friends. The course must have suffered in the recent dry spell, the tee-boxes were very poor, little grass and very dusty/sandy and the fairways were dried out with multiple cracks!

Great facilities fabulous setting really enjoyed my round even in the the strong wind….. the only downside was how dry and cracked the fairways were which gave very interesting bounces to say the least

Tired

Slinfold is a lovely course and have played it many times, but the greens were in such poor condition, lots of sand and dead. I know we've had one of the wettest time last year and then the last 2 months not much rain, but it seems they haven't put any water on them at all. Still a great course to play, but not at the moment.

A Boggy Field

The course clearly has major drainage issues, fairways weren't cut, balls lost as they easily plugged, clingy clay -all in all a waste of a visit. How do they charge a full green fee price when they know how poor the course condition is.May be good in the summer but avoid at all costs during the winter.

Good Short course

Essentially a Pitch and Putt which could be lengthened. Finding the 4th tee was difficult and the tee box could be moved nearer the road. But it was playable which in our current monsoon weather is good. Greens well spiked so at least no puddles.

Tricky layout - interesting

This is a course where you need to know your way around. A lot of hidden water hazards early on and a lot of doglegs where you need to hit a specific distance off the tee. But it's a varied, interesting layout with some wicked greens. We played in March when the greens were slower. They must be borderline unplayable in the summer. Well worth a round here though.

Investment The Key

Investment in a golf course is always needed after the recent wet weather. Slinfold green staff are not only re-laying some of the tee boxes but have purchased - among other equipment - an "iron" for the greens. This was immediately noticeable yesterday as, early on, putt after putt zipped past the hole. Soon got used to it and enjoyed several ten footers that did not bobble en route.

Great short game course

This is still a great Par 3 course for practising your short game. I haven't played the course for nearly a year but it's still great in February with the added bonus of water in the lakes so you can't play out of them like in the dry Summer. My best round on the Academy. Worth a tenner.

Excellent value for money in throw day and age

Given now days you struggle to find any golf course for less than ?30. Slinfold being ?35 at a weekend is excellent value for money for a very decent course. The course was in good condition given how little rain there has been recently ,including the greens. Although not that long off the yellows,it means you have to think your way about and make sure you put yourself in the right position off the tee. Overall, very enjoyable course

Played the Academy course today, as usual Slinfold is very welcoming and has great facilities, but this course could really do with a tidy up, especially the greens. Shame as it's a great course layout for tuning up your shorter game, just the grass is far too long in places.

Needs work to restore to former glory

Have played here many times but first time this year and it hasn't emerged from lock down in a good way, they've obviously got a problem with the grass on the fairways as they were very patchy and not because of the heat we've experienced. The greens were really bumpy but work on them may be planned for the near future (hopefully). Wouldn't recommend at the moment. Would play in the future if I heard work had been done, too much competition around the area to warrant the money.
