OK not a course I would get over excited about, but I played in winter, and it was very wet. But it does host its fair share of quality amateur Essex events, so I guess it must have something.

WAnstead is a lovely club. The greens were in amazing condition, very quick! Due to very good drainage, in the hot weather the fairways suffer a little bit, and were bare in places. The members were very friendly and the 19th is very nice, and a great way to finish off the round. Highly Recommended.

Enjoyable local course with good fast greens. Fairway is a bit hit and miss, feels a bit unkempt in parts.

The club has done a lot of work on and off the course the course is in the best condition that I have ever seen it in over the years rhat I have played it

Old Staple in Essex
They have spent a lot to improve the patio areas due to the recent pandemic regulations on social distancing and outside eating etc, the course has also benefitted from the recent rains(Round played: Jun 2021 - Score: 81 Handicap: 11.9)

Nice course on the Edge of Epping Forest
The greens were in very good condition and the fairways recently cut, We agreed as a society to play pick and place as there were some bare patches Holes 2-5 are a short walk away and up and down so rehearse the word FORE! Staff and members were very friendly and helpful. Hole 16 is a real poser!!Reviewer Rating

The course was in good condition and they are doing a lot of work to the course clearing bushes renewing the pathways etc, the playing surface was good especially around the fringes of the greens which was impressive as the last time I played the course it was a bit scrappy.

Atmospheric Friendly
I play this course on occasion as a guest of some members, on this occasion although the course is a parkland course you had to play it like a links due to the dry conditions and the greens was very hard to hold.(Round played: Jun 2019 - Score: 87 Handicap: 13.1)

good conditions considering its well into November. a couple of holes have winter tees but still in good condition. the course drains well so fairways were in good condition. greens very slow.

Nice greens
No separate T's for ladies but you Par 5 instead of Par4 and your stroke changes. Decent long course for men you can use your driver - not too much trouble and the ball runs if you hit the fairway as not much grass - be friendly and give placing for fairways you need it
