A very nice course in inner London. Considering how close it is to central London (there's a view of Canary Wharf from the elevated 10th tee), this isn't the biggest property on which you'll find a golf course, but they make fantastic use of the land.
At 6000 yards, par 69 from the tips, it's not the longest but the design makes good use of a number of long and short par 4s. Holes 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 14 will make you question some of the below reviews which characterise it as "short".
Added to those are some great par 3s, 15 and 16 in particular. I was told by a member afterwards that Ben Hogan described the 15th as one of the top 100 par 3s in Great Britain, and that certainly chimed with me - beautifully framed by trees, it requires a mid to long iron to a long but very narrow 3-tiered green. 16 follows that, the signature hole over a lake, again framed by trees on the left and very picturesque. I'm sure more than a few rounds have met a watery grave there.
The course was in good condition. The fairways were lovely to play from and the greens were relatively quick and true. For any golf course, this is key to enjoyment and, thankfully, Wanstead passed the test. Furthermore, the course is mostly tree-lined by mature woodland which makes it far more scenic than some of the more open parkland style courses nearby which make do with straight lines of poplars, and there was even some nice wildlife along the way in the form of jays, green woodpeckers and foxes.
Overall this course has some very interesting (but not gimmicky) holes, no particularly weak holes, it was in very good condition and, considering its price and proximity to Central London, I think it's well worthy of a 5 star review. No one will go to Wanstead expecting Wentworth, but they should go expecting a thoroughly enjoyable golfing experience.

For an inner London course it is fantastic. The tee boxes were all flat and even and the greens were immaculate.
I would recommend this course to everyone.

Good track and very convenient for central london
Played on the bank holiday with a current member. It's a nice club and very convenient for anyone living in central London. Very reasonably priced membership as well I believe. The course itself is solid, if a little on the short side. Greens were very well kept and there are some challenging holes with tough tee shots, especially if you aren't 100% where all of the hazards are. A couple of the holes cross fairways etc, but that and the short length are obviously down to being in central london! Fairways were a little bare in parts but that's down to the scorching summer last year and lack of rain/recovery time.Reviewer Rating

Similar to other courses at this time of year the course has some tempory teeing areas but all the greens were in use

the course is very good .but could be a bit cheaper as there are othere courses which are better for the same money

Played a few times now and do enjoy this quaint little course. The greens are always in phenomenal condition and the club takes pride in this. It is not the most challenging of courses with the 2-5th holes quite open should you swing right or left but there is enough trouble to find if you aren't careful. The 16th is the signature hole and a real joy to play but equally the 15th is a very tricky par 3 which can catch out many good players. Staff and clubhouse very friendly.

Very well kept inner city course with some interesting and challenging holes mainly on the back 9. Front 9 was less interesting with only one par 3 (9th) and requiring a driver from most tees. Greens are challenging and caught us out on more than one occasion.

Fairways quite rough, would be better in the summer so don't write it off. Some very tight holes

A well set up golf course, short walk from Wanstead underground station. Friendly staff and nice putting green adn chipping area. Did have a dispute with a member about where our trollies were standing. The resident pro and another of the members assured us it was them in the wrong (the members were rude but also played in a 5ball, so clearly dont have a clue about rules and etiquette themselves). Would go back there, as this didnt put me off completely.

Wet, But that's England
Had a great day in early March. Course is standing up well where alot of other courses are closed Wanstead has majority of holes in play with few temp tees and no temp greens.Reviewer Rating

Hidden gem of a course in east London. Really like the layout aside from the 4 holes jammed off to the other park entrance - abit samey. But an all round great course for the money.
