Play here once a year as an annual event. Very hilly clifftop course.
No hole is flat. Fairways have not suffered from lack of watering as on some other courses I have played. Greens have recently been recently and sanded and are not in the best condition but still ran true.

A good test

We were lucky in that it was a very calm day. I'm sure it would have been a different proposition playing in windy conditions. The course looked great and the greens were in good condition. All day breakfast very good value.

With current conditions, very dry, fast fairways, and strong winds it proved difficult to play the course. There are steep slopes on most of the holes making it important to be accurate with teexshots. Greens in very good condition. Recommend a buggy if you play here.

As part of a society Kent tour this course was a pleasant surprise. As a high handicapper it was fair and challenging. Not all our players were of the same opinion but overall very enjoyable.

Played here following a round at Princes earlier in the day. Was therefore quite tired when doing so. Course was more of a walk than initially anticipated and certainly goes up and down over the 18. Lost of variety after a comparatively inocuous start. Greens were decent and course was also in good condition. Friendly in pro shop and a steal at £25 playing post 3pm. Can't comment on the clubhouse as didn't have time to use. Would like to head back and play again at some point.

great views on sunny days

course was in good condition, greens were true and quick, have played it before and like the set up, there is plenty to keep you interested and such a great spot up on the cliffs.... providing the wind is not howling and its dry !!

Spectacular view from the Cliffs

I thoroughly enjoyed playing Walmer and Kingsdown in spectacular weather with amazing views of the English Channel and also saw the cliffs of France!
The course was in great condition and very trick slopes had to be navigated. Tough uphill par 3's.

great course but the "walled" greens are strange, I'll certainly play it differently next time.

Amazing views, tough approaches

I suspect this course is sometimes a bit overlooked, situated as it is just south of the Princes/St George's/Cinque Ports stretch of world-class links. It's not a links - although, on the top of chalky cliffs, it often plays like one - but it is a very classy layout which will test the best golfers. The rest of us (eg golfers like me) may struggle on some of the tougher holes. When I played, it was gloriously sunny with hardly a breath of wind. On a day when there's a good breeze off the North Sea I imagine this will be a beast. It's a glorious location though - you can see France one way and Ramsgate the other from many of the holes. And the course is a proper championship test - long, wide fairways, big changes in elevation (more on that in a minute), large, impeccably maintained greens and some superbly(or devilishly) positioned bunkers. In fact, my only criticism is the three holes on the back nine built into the side of the cliffs. The result is fairways with such a pronounced slope you cannot keep your ball on them. The straightest drivers will find themselves at the bottom of the slope just like the worst slicers or hookers. Some may call this quirky, but to me it felt as if good shots were unfairly punished. A small point, because otherwise, especially on a nice sunny day, you'll have a fantastic experience at "the club on the cliffs".

A beast of a course, when the Channel wind is blowing! A good challenge at any time, the proximity to the coast makes this a real test.

Steep hilly clifftop course. Only 3 flat fairways on the whole course, 1,2 &9. Course in good condition.
Very dry. Ball runs a long way on fairways and greens. Some greens are cut back into the fairway leaving up to a 3 ft verticle drop from fairway to green in some cases with downhill run. Challenges the chip and run skills. Would recommend a buggy if you struggle walking.
