Excellent course

This course is amazing, did not have a good round but it was an enjoyable round and will gladly go back again for more rounds.

Disappointing

Not a fan of the Kings Course after one visit. Front nine is ok, but the back nine gets a bit gimmicky with blind drives to slopping fairways, where you don't have a clue where your ball is likely to end up. A rather silly par three (about 100 yards long) which feels like they got to the end of the build and realised they only had 17 holes, so squeezed this one in. Also a dog leg that you can't cut the corner on, even though it's well in range, because there's a fence up, half way down the hole, protecting one of the other tee boxes so the right side is OOB. So, overall not brilliantly planned out. The greens we faced were rock hard and basically not hold-able whether coming in high or running on. (God knows what they'll be like when it gets to summer.)
The clubhouse is a bit of a barn. It's got no atmosphere at all and the furniture needs either a good clean or replacement. To top it off, the member of bar staff that served us at lunchtime had no idea how to make a Bitter Shandy. (She does now!)

I was a bit disappointed with the condition of the fairways. There were lots of drainage ditches across them. The tee boxes and greens were in great condition. The bunkers did not have much sand in some of them. No driving range but plenty of driving nets. I would like to play the course when there are not leaves all over the place but that can be an issue at many courses.

It's winter and on the down side the bunkers are poor. Waterlogged or with hard sand. Greens are ok considering. Lots of temporary tees (expected).

Venue is friendly, but the coffee from the new machine is awful.

Temporary greens a shame

The kings course seemed nice but temporary greens and tees ruined the round. It would have been nice if the pro shop had warned me of this and that real greens were being used on the Jubilee. I stopped after 9 holes and did the front nine of the Jubilee course instead of the back 9 of the Kings. I really liked the Jubilee course - Open American style course with huge bunkers and undulating greens and fairways. Excellent condition as well other than the bunkers which were a little hard. Wish I’d been told at the pro shop as I’d have then done The full 18 on the Jubilee and saved myself some money! Clubhouse and facilities looked excellent
