What the club says: The Club boasts two superb 18 Hole golf courses, each with its own distinctive character. Experience for yourself, just how enjoyable playing at Three Rivers can be.

Kings Course - The 6449 yard Par 72 Kings Course offers an excellent test of Golf. This mature parkland course features an array of water hazards, set in gently rolling parkland, offering all golfing abilities a challenging but most enjoyable round.

Jubilee Course - The Jubilee Course has been constructed to exacting USGA specifications, and completes the 36 hole complex. This course provides both a unique and alternative test of golf with elaborately undulating greens, and some very challenging short holes. This Par 64 will require alternative thinking in order to conquer its inviting challenges.

3 Rivers Experience near Maldon

I have played this course a few times and I got much the same result, scored ok on the front nine, however struggled once again. You need to manage the back nine, not just try and thump the ball down the fairways. This is a hard course for us high handicappers. The back nine is hilly, so consider a buggy. The course is kept in excellent condition, not sure what all the dry ditches are about, can be found on most holes. The general facilities are very good. You have a great view of the surrounding area from the top the course, once you have climbed hart attack hill. I would recommend trying the course, however it is not easy and has two holes where you drive blind. Have fun????. PS we played after 3pm excellent value at twelve pounds????

Nice shorter course

The greens and fairways are in excellent condition, not so the bunkers. But they are improving....slowly.
Play can be slow especially when following 4-balls who don't always seem inclined to let faster groups through.

Good experience

An ideal course for a relative beginner, nothing too difficult to put you off playing but the holes are all within 2 shots of par even for me

Disappointing

Not a fan of the Kings Course after one visit. Front nine is ok, but the back nine gets a bit gimmicky with blind drives to slopping fairways, where you don't have a clue where your ball is likely to end up. A rather silly par three (about 100 yards long) which feels like they got to the end of the build and realised they only had 17 holes, so squeezed this one in. Also a dog leg that you can't cut the corner on, even though it's well in range, because there's a fence up, half way down the hole, protecting one of the other tee boxes so the right side is OOB. So, overall not brilliantly planned out. The greens we faced were rock hard and basically not hold-able whether coming in high or running on. (God knows what they'll be like when it gets to summer.)
The clubhouse is a bit of a barn. It's got no atmosphere at all and the furniture needs either a good clean or replacement. To top it off, the member of bar staff that served us at lunchtime had no idea how to make a Bitter Shandy. (She does now!)

Excellent

The course was in good condition, only problem was the bunkers, they need to put some more sand in them as they are very poor. Excellent facilities and even a good deal on a breakfast before the game.

Jubilee course

Played the jubilee par 64 course, excellent challenge for any golfer, overall fairways and greens in great condition, bunkers not so good though as they are in need of better drainage and more sand.

Bunker hell

Played the short Jubilee course, the layout, fairways and greens are OK but the bunkers are the worst I have come across ! Never raked by ground staff to the extent that grass is growing from them, if they are not flooded or full of mud that is ! Bearing in mind this has been the driest summer in living memory how can there be wet mud in bunkers. Come on 3 Rivers get your act in order.

Bunkers

The only thing in my opinion which lets this course down is the Bunkers. They are a disgrace mainly full of weeds and water and never appear maintained, Unplayable!!.

I was a bit disappointed with the condition of the fairways. There were lots of drainage ditches across them. The tee boxes and greens were in great condition. The bunkers did not have much sand in some of them. No driving range but plenty of driving nets. I would like to play the course when there are not leaves all over the place but that can be an issue at many courses.
