Great course, one of the best. Didn't know our barings as it was the 1st time we played it. Difficult holes, fast greens...once a year course as it's £60 midweek

Decent course although he weather has taken its toll in some areas including the bunkers also a bit pricey. Friendly staff and nice food.

Thorndon is my favourite course in Essex. It is placed in a pretty park landscape and the course has a great variety of difficulties. Detailed knowledge of the course layout and hazards is recommended as many holes (e.g. hole no 4) will otherwise spring a surprise and grief. The greens are just perfection (July 09). I never managed to cause a dent, yet they grip backspin and are the quickest I have ever experienced. Expensive, but worth it as a treat...at least once. Alternatively, go next door to Hartswood for a similar setting, slower greens, and a quarter of the price.

Played here in September for my friends birthday
Served a lovely breakfast by friendly staff off to the pro shop welcomed by very helpful staff
The course layout is fantastic and was in good condition after a fair bit of rain I believe the course is over 100 years old what a great experience to play on we will definitely be going back the price was £95 each which might put a few off but you get what you pay for I suppose ????

Faultless
Visited for the first time on a society. Every meal we had was top notch ! The staff in every department were eager to please . Despite heavy rain for weeks, the course played fantastically well, greens ran true, fairways still firm. Very picturesque and some holes were seriously tough. Definitely be visiting again.
