Stock and Brook

On a very warm and humid day, we were invited to play Stock Brook Manor by a friend. Would have been £35 but club discount reduced to a reasonable £25 mid week round. We were designated the Brook and Stock courses. course seemed in a good but parched condition, although the greens were a lot slower than they looked and it took a while to adjust. Although as a unit we did not play very well, the round was very enjoyable and challenging.

Lovely course in excellent condition.
Played the Manor course in the morning (texas) then the Stock & Brook courses in the afternoon (stapleford).
Staff are very helpful and an excellent place to hold a society day.

Thought it was very good

I have played Stock Brook Manor about 8 times before yesterday and never really rated the golf course but enjoyed the clubhouse / facilities . Played yesterday and thought the course was excellent . Played the Stock and Brook nine holes where I think before the manor has always been on of the nines I played . Very challenging greens big with undulations everywhere and some long par 4's . The facilities are still excellent . 18 holes of golf , ham egg and chips for £23 because we had a decent size group seemed excellent value .

Best course

This is by far the best course we have played this year, the fairways and greens were in superb condition and the bunkers had sand as opposed to clay, the staff were very helpful. It was a great day out and would highly recommend this course

Disappointing

We had a small society day at Stock Brook Manor yesterday. The welcome and service in the Clubhouse was fine but given the underfoot conditions (very wet) it was questionable whether the course should have been open. The majority of holes were on temporary tees and some of the greens were still showing signs of being hollow tined and deep scarified but in fairness, given the conditions played ok. The biggest issue was course signage - there are 3 loops of 9, we were playing the Stock and the Manor (Brook being "rested") and in some places it was very difficult to establish were to go to get to the next correct tee. With the temporary tees some of the par 4s were playing more like long par 3s.

awful greens

this was the 4th year my company held there golf day here and the greens were probably the worst i have ever putted on.

they had recently undergone there autumn maintenance which looked like in involved dragging Freddie Kruger across all the greens. while this shouldn't be a problem, the greens weren't then sanded, reseeded and rolled properly as they were bumpy and gritty with some rather large stones on them and that made putting a complete lottery.

the rest of the course was in good condition and let down by the greens

Good course but

Course in good condition down side was not told greens had been dressed down side green keepers didn't give a toss that you where taking a shot or putting just kept on cutting greens and fairways that you were playing on

Lovely condition course, twilight bargain

Course was a real challenge and in great condition given the recent dry spell. Greens great and holes demanded good course management. Excellent twilight bargain on a lovely Friday afternoon.
