Excellent Parkland course. Does get busy in the summer months when the fair weather players turn up!

The condition of this course leaves a lot to be desired.Greens OK, although Green-keeper has obviously never played golf in his life given the illegal pin positions.
Fairways moderate, hard to tell where rough starts.
Tee's & bunkers are an absolute joke, clay like Sand, either rock hard with cracks or an abundance of sand which is full of foot prints. Tees are nothing more than a farmers field which have more broken tees on them than blades of grass.
Appear to let anyone on, booked a tee time with no one 30 minutes either side of me, yet we had 4 * 4 balls in front of us & another group behind.
Crazy they have the front to charge £50 for this, wont be returning.

All good considering current hot/dry conditions (July 22) tee boxes flat fairways wide and tree lined avoid (difficult to find ball due to leaves) greens quiet fast with slopes (practise green flat) and most are protected by bunkers some could do with some sand and not concrete. Major criticism poorly sign posted green to next tee, Tee signs all on seat side of of benches which face the fairway so you don't know if you are at right tee, would not be hard to change to back of seat. Would play again.

tricky short water holes
WE played the Stock +Brook combination where the 4th and 7th short holes set up two difficult par 3 holes. Otherwise quite straight up and down the hills.(Round played: Aug 2021 - Score: 108 Handicap: 32.9)

1st visit
Played in the Broomfield FC society day at the end of September, it was our first event and was very successful. We used all 27 holes in the competition and I found the day to be very enjoyable with some challenging holes, the weather was a bit hit and miss with rain at times and this made the greens difficult to read as they all seemed to be playing different at different times of the day. Lovely clubhouse, warm welcome, good food and bar, would certainly recommend and we will be back for another event in the springReviewer Rating

What has happened to stockbrook, the clubhouse has not been updated since I played here 10 years ago if anything it's gone backwards since then with the tacky chairs, as for the course the greens were like putting in the fairways and the fairways are like the rough.
Grass left in between the trees makes shot making impossible and finding balls tedious... The tee boxes are all uneven and on 12,13,15 almost unplayable!!!
Try Crondon if you want an enjoyable round as the course is superb and the clubhouse may not be great but at least it's not a let down

We played a day after the torrents of rain on the 23rd. The course drained extremely well except the bunkers. Excellent staff made the day very enjoyable.

Challenging course with some very fun holes, particularly the par 3s very close to the water hazards. Greens were in excellent condition and some very undulating ones too, fast greens despite recent rain. Would be even better on a sunny, calm day. Bunkers were tough but fun to play, and there is a good mixture of difficult but rewarding holes, as well as easier holes. (Score: 102, Handicap: None at the moment)

Course was in excellent condition, greens fairways & tee boxes all good. We had a 4 ball special offer coffee, bacon rolls, 18 holes on stock & Brook course, ham eggs & chips after all for ?46 a bargain. Staff very friendly, food great, had a great day, the sun even came out too.

Considering the amount of rain we have had was not in too bad a condition, fairways a little soft but greens fine. Nice to play off the tees and not off mats as am at my course. Enjoy the variation of holes here and forgiving fairways

Played the 3rd 9 holes at Stock Brook. Course in great nick, tee boxes and fairways good and greens in excellent condition. New tee on 8th makes it challenging from white tees. Sat am green fees may put punters off, ?40 for 18 holes.Reviewer Rating

SUPERB GREENS
Long and lovely parkland course in the Essex countryside. Long par 4's, bona fide par 5's and one or two particularly challenging par 3's. Watch out in particular for Stock Brook's very own 'Amen Corner' (11,12,13 on the championship course). EXCELLENT ALL ROUND CHALLENGE
Lovely course in the Essex countryside. Proper Par 5's, tricky Par 3's and long Par 4's to challenge good golfers, but forgiving enough to not crucify high handicappers. Excellent greens. Well worth a visit.(Round played: Jun 2021 - Score: 90 Handicap: 14.1)

Really enjoyed my first round here, its a bit up and down in places but still a pretty course. Conditions were great and felt a touch longer than other courses in the area.

Played Stock and Brook a number of times. Can have a tendency to slow play but the course is lovely, greens are well kept and its varied enough to allow even a high handicapper a couple of good holes. As this round was shortly after lockdown 2 rules were beginning to relax, I was surprised at how well it had been maintained. COVID measures were reassuring too.
Definitely will play again.
