Was looking forward to returning to this course after undergoing Welsh trials a number of years ago here. Upon registration I was informed by a rude gentleman in the pro shop that our shorts were too long (knee length) to be worn on the golf course, after booking, paying and travelling down.
This was extremely frustrating for myself and playing partner. Fortunately, we were welcomed with open arms in the same attire at Celtic Manor, and only lost an hour or so in travel.
These shorts have been worn at both Ashburnham and Tenby GC numerous times - which I would personally consider much more exclusive and of higher demands in terms of clothing etiquette.
I was very disappointed with this level of service and will not be returning to St Marys.

Played the main 18 hole course on Sunday 3rd August 2008 in the rain. Course was full and played well, the greens were fast and very well kept. Nice selection of hole throughout the course.
The 10th lets the course down a bit for me as it's a 'gimicky' hole and very difficult to get the ball to stay on the green. If this was changed the course would of gained another star.
I would defenately play this course again and would recommend it. Cant wait to play again ( apart from the 10th )

Good society day, shame about the weather.
Well looked after by the pro shop (one of our party picked up a Ping G5 2nd hand for £50).
Greens were a bit picky, but then it was getting towards the end of the season and had been bad weather.

It's used by the agricultural college to teach greenkeeping. It's short, the greens can be a bit hit or miss, but it's only a fiver and ideal if you're learning golf. They are starting to realise the potential and are apparently going to spend some money on it. It can get quite busy, especially on a Sunday morning.
Bring your pound coins to pay in the machine otherwise it's £6 if you pay the attendant.
