All I can say to anyone thinking about playing Sonning is to take the oportunity, especially if you can get a good deal on one of the tee time sites. There are 18 lovely holes of parkland golf to be enjoyed, with tees, fairways and greens that were all in very good condition. The fairways are generally pretty wide, with a lot of the holes/greens protected by a number of bunkers and subtle breaks.
I played it on a day when the ground was dry, which certainly helped reach a number of the longer par 4's. There are four par 4's longer than 435 yards from the yellows. To balance that there are only a couple of par 5's, neither of which is especially long.
The welcome at the proshop was very friendly, as were the staff working behind the bar.

despite a cold snap and rain the course was very well presented and in great condition. Minus point were the bunkers hadn't been racked that morning a some had deep sand.
Lovely location and staff very helpful.

Course was in good condition given the weathe of late. Greens were very bobbly which made pitting a pain.

£30 (which although I appreciate is a big reduction from their usual fee) for a twilight round with 18 temporary greens is not good at all. The greens were wet but some may have been used, and they looked good so very disappointing not to go on of them.

Course in first class condition, quiet apart from the trains and the tarffic outside, and a great pleasure to play on a generous parkland course.

Cracking course and enjoyable round. Greens had just been spiked which is a problem with booking through tee off times rather than the club.

Played here with a society on a very warm day. Course was in perfect condition with the many greenkeepers working hard on it mid morning but also having the politeness to stop any noise whilst taking tee shots etc. Some beautiful holes and can be punishing if you go wide. All staff top drawer. Great course and I would definitely come back.
