I can agree with a lot of what has been said. Some lovely holes, great views and a well kept course, but..... I play off 20 and would regard this course as very difficult for several reasons, firstly the elevations mean you have to understand your club differences, the fairways slope meaning in some instances you have less than half a fairway to hit, there are several blind shots and one green in particular is perched on top of an outcrop which I don't believe I could ever hit in two, a little bit too mini golf for my liking. Finally unless you are in good condition I would recommend a buggy. There are huge elevations and green to tee can be a long uphill walk.

Interesting course founded in 1906 by James Braid, at least the best and earliest 9 were. The newest 9 have been built on reclaimed farmland and this part of the course is a bit of a slog. The James Braid section is amazing and well worth playing because of the incredible way in which the holes have been created in difficult limestone terrain. Very, very good.

Played in a Winter 4BBB last weekend & with an entry fee of a tenner you can't go wrong.
The only thing that gets some negative opinions is how a few of the holes run back into each other. You can very easily be walking into incoming tee shots. This mainly applies to the first few holes over the railway & again through 11 -13.
Keep your wits about you!
Overall the course was relatively dry and although the greens had been worked ran true & quick.
On a bright Autumn morning the views are great too!

Golfshake Team ReviewSilverdale is perfect for an away trip as the train station is right next to the golf course. This course really does suit the tactical golfer as there aren't many opportunities to get out the driver and many holes are treelined. An thoroughly enjoyable test perfect for societies and golfers looking for an easy away day.

Played with a visiting society. We were made to feel very welcome upon our arrival and we were given a few tips on how to play the course. Two prizes were offered for the 11th and 18th holes by the course management and this was greatly received. The course may not be to every players likes as it has a lot of blind shots and the use of a playing partner is recommended as a look out. I would give this course full marks as the condition of the fairways and greens are second to none, but I found the layout to be a bit confusing and it has a lot of hills. Other golfers might find this type of course just what they like. It just did not suit my game.

Great little course. Open front nine followed by a tricky tight back nine and keeps you interested for whole round.

The older part of the course is very unique, greens in excellent condition despite the recent rain. Beautifull course. Would recommend to anyone. Some of the signature holes are terrifying of the tee not ideal for the higher handicapped. Overall a great day out.
