What the club says: Tradition and modern facilities hand in hand.
In 2005 Morecambe golf club passed an important milestone by celebrating its Centennial. Always strong on tradition, the club prides itself on maintaining standards in golf etiquette whilst presenting a warm and friendly welcome to our highly regarded visitors.
The club moved to its present location in 1923 after spending the previous 18 years at several local but inadequate sites. A new, and at the time state of the art, clubhouse was built in 1924 to accommodate the burgeoning membership. The 18 hole course itself was designed by Dr Alister MacKenzie and despite a number of alterations over the intervening years has retained the essential character he envisioned. Although a seaside course the layout is more a parkland style, enhanced over the last twenty years by an extensive tree planting programme.
The Clubhouse has been continuously upgraded to keep pace with modern requirements. In 1971 a major extension to provide new locker rooms and bar areas was undertaken, followed in 1994 with further improvements to locker rooms and lounges to accommodate a growing membership and increased visitor numbers. The latest bar refurbishment was completed in 2003 and unlike many golf clubs, Morecambe makes no distinction between members and visitors in its bar pricing policy, the same low prices are available to both.

Good course
Played in the recent mixed open and despite the rain the course was in good condition. The greens are consistent and fair and the fairways mostly good. A friendly club with a helpful Pro and Clubhouse staff.

Excellent views
Not the hardest of courses but a really pleasant and friendly club.

A little scruffy
I think they must struggle with drainage as it appears they haven't been able to get onto the course to keep it in trim. It had been cut but looks like grass was a little long as fairways full of grass cuttings. Tees uncut. As grass very lush rough area just off the fairway very punishing and likely to loose ball in a plug. Even though its short there are some very challenging holes especially in the wind. I don't mind blind tee off but there are a few blind shots to the green which I don't understand. Overall had a good day and some laughs.

Nice course by the sea with stunning views
Played Morecambe a few times now and plays different each time. Long par 3s to ruin any good card. Course in decent condition greens a touch slow. Good vibe in clubhouse. Worth playing for sure.

Nice course, but very wet
Well laid out course, lacking a par 5 or two. Unfortunatley when played was very wet underfoot as a result the fairway grass a little long, we were losing balls on the fairway(plugging). Staff friendly throughout. Would return when a bit drier.(Round played: Oct 2017 - Score: 80 Handicap: 6.6)

This was the first time we had played this course and the members, the course and the welcome we received was great.
