The greens were in great condition, making it a bit challenging to score but still fair. The scenery was beautiful.

Long, tough and glass greens
We played a Mizuno Pairs comp here and the course is a beauty. Long, tough, well structured, great condition and errr, did I mention long? While some of the later holes are rather similar, it is certainly a class above most in Essex. It was in superb nick but the greens were extremely fast, even by true championship course standards, with the members on the day saying they had rarely seen them so rapid. In truth it made chipping and putting something of a lottery. Well worth a visitReviewer Rating

First class course, superb greens, it is on a hillside, overlooking the town and Audley End House, exceptional par 3 5th, always in perfect condition, the green staff are very helpful, be prepared for a long up hill par 5 3rd, after your round pay a visit to the clubhouse where the food is very good and a large selection of beers and other beverages.

Wonderful course
Course in great condition for the time of year. Very well maintained. Greens are not quick but very tricky to read. Hit it right and they run true.Fabulous views from several holes.
Lovely club house. Excellent starter.
Just a shame the kitchen doesn't open till 11. (Go to Mocha in the high street. Excellent breakfast there.)

Very nice Course

Sited on hilly ground on the outskirts of Saffron Walden this busy course has wonderful views and some challenging holes many influenced by the slopes. In good condition for Spring it was very well presented. Quite physical to play because of its contours, I?d recommend an electric trolley. The clubhouse is comfortable and welcoming.

Not worth the money

I played SWGC YESTERDAY 17/9/18 ok a honest opinion. Friendly staff in pro shop and bar. Now the course a lot of blind shots which makes it hard the greens not at there best and ongoing work so had to judge. But I’d like to play the course when all done the greens were slow but there are some nice looking golf holes think I would go back and and play. But the starter was a great character and very cheerful thanks.Reviewer Rating

stunning course
Course was in excellent condition, greens immaculate and a tough test. £17 twighlight is excellent value for money & the groundsman is a top man he even took the time out to speak to me personally.(Round played: Jun 2018 - Score: 94 Handicap: 13.7)

Lovely course
A great setting with beautiful views of church and countryside. Hilly; an electric trolley is a real bonus. Excellent condition after so much rain. Greens good though a little variable on our day. The 17th - 18th ending is odd and a little disappointing.(Round played: Apr 2018 - Score: 90 Handicap: 12)

Solid golf course with excellent facilities and in immaculate condition. Greens as pure as you like but very hard to read subtle breaks.
Some holes need to be thought about as driver is not the club but some holes do offer the chance to open up a bit.
Excellent par 3's with stunning views.

The Walden course is of a very high standard and sets a challenge for both the low and high handicap golfer. The club house, staff and facilities are of an equally high standard. I would recommend a vsit to this course set on the outskirts of this historical market town.
