A mixed bag
Played last summer with my father - a gentle start through the first half dozen holes before the course starts to come alive. The back nine is more like the true links that we all know. We both played from the gents’ back tees (despite the odd looks from a couple of members questioning a teenage girl playing from gents’ tees) and it is a stiff test but enjoyable. The bar staff were helpful but sadly the pro shop were disinterested and positively disinterested; no strokesaver was available which is a glaring omission for a top course. Score 70 handicap +0.9 and my father shot 72 from handicap of 1.2.Reviewer Rating

Lives up to it's reputation!
What a course. The front nine, just eases you in with some nice challenges, but plenty of opportunities in calm weather to score well. The back nine is just spectacular and deserves all the accolades it receives. The final 5 holes are genuinely some of the best you will play in the UK. If you haven't played this course, get there are do it. We played it twice in 2018 and the second time in driving wind and rain - what a different course in those conditions. That's the true challenge of this links course. Will be coming back again in 2019 for another crack. Feels like unfinished business!(Round played: Jul 2018 - Score: 96 Handicap: 27.2)

Disappointing experience
Course is celebrated but slightly uninspiring. Despite location, no sea views. Derelict buildings beside the castle dominate some holes. Clubhouse unloved and needs a coat of paint. Feels like it needs a new broom everywhere.Reviewer Rating

Loved it
Staying in Harlech on holiday, brought the clubs hoping for a round. Booked after 3pm for £45. Played alone and round in just over three hours, time spent ball hunting in thick clumpy rough, only found one in four balls that went in rough. You have to keep it straight. Fairways still a little burnt but mainly good lies, bunkers and greens exceptional. Loved it.(Round played: Aug 2018 - Score: 87 Handicap: 15.4)

Incredible course
What a course, what views and such nice people.Just got back from a 3.5 hour journey back to the midlands and already planning our next trip.
Although the course - like every other in UK - was very brown and dry - the fairways here were beautifully soft....like carpet. And the Greens were all in great condition. Not overly fast. Just right. We all took so many photos of the surrounds - the Harlech castle is an amazing backdrop on so many holes.
The back nine was most exciting. Tee shot on 12 was fabulous. a shot not dissimilar to some at Royal Liverpool you saw at the Open. Strewn below are fairway pot bunkers so you need to be deadly accurate. Then the fun begins. The blind par 3 14th - now you really are in the midst of a typical links. The blind approach after another demanding tee shot on 15. But the tee shot on 16th is amazing. The fairway looks great but the views of the mountains to the left and the sea behind you (courtesy of the step ladder provided) is just the best spot on the course.
Will try the onsite dormy rooms next time to make the trip easier.
Although I hit virtually every bunker on 17/18 for a deflating finish I still had to go to the Pro shop grab a shirt to remember my visit. Awesome!
Nice lunch to finish and set us up for the trip home

Fantastic course worth visiting
Set beside the dunes and with spectacular views of Snowdon and the hills and the bulk of Harlech Castle looking down on you this course was a joy to play, Back nine is the toughest but all holes are a joy Late in the round the 15th. is memorable , tight drive and blind second shot through a narrow gap in the sand hills , then loved the 16th.drive over an intimidating bunker to a narrow fairway.(Round played: Mar 2018 - Score: 90 Handicap: 18.6)

Dissapointing
Underwhelming first few holes. Back nine is better (excluding the par 3 14th which is silly). Greens were good. View of the castle was nice but there are better links courses in North Wales. Pretty friendly people but not worth the green fee.Reviewer Rating

A Must Play
An absolutely magnificent golf course. The front 9 has a nice mix of holes and is a joy to play but the back 9 is spectacular as well as tough. The rough is brutal and the wind may blow but the condition, mix of holes and quality of the place makes it a must play and considering I would rank it higher than Formby and Southport and Ainsdale it is great value for money - especially on a twiglight which is an absolute steal. Nice lunch afterwards and good practice facilities. Already planning my next visit.Reviewer Rating

Brilliant course and great value for money
Course is in brilliant condition and the bunkers are very tough but fair. The pro in the shop explained that the bunkers can fill with water in the Winter due to the water table being close to the top. Fifteenth is the jewel in the crown. The derectly hotel is an eyesore but you cannot blame RSD for that. For a championship course it is great value for money. Traditional club house with great food and service.Reviewer Rating
