Absolute Coastal Gem
A sunny June day with strong winds, deemed normal by the locals! This is a beautifully presented classic links course that lives up to the hype. It starts with a straight par 4 but the remainder of the course can leave you feel battered and bruised. The greens run smooth and quick; the fairways are undulating with many blind shots; and the off centre hits can be penalised in very long rough (that's if you find it within 3 minutes). Brilliant links course .. Must play
Played Royal St Georges the day before and yet this course is every bit as good. The wind is behind you the first 11 odd holes , but the last 6 are into the wind and play 2-3 extra clubs. The Open has been played here twice and you can see why. The course could still take The Open but maybe the infrastructure wouldn't cope which is a real shame. An excellent course in great condition. Taxing out nine into the wind. Halfway hut Bovril and sherry not to be missed. Very friendly traditional clubhouse.

Fantastic links course and in great condition. Weather was very challenging and we played from 12 onwards into a very strong wind. Great Clubhouse.

played in normal wind conditions - it is pretty much always windy. The course was in fabulous condition and once out on the course you don't see many people. Definitely not a course for a high handicapper but low to mid handicappers will enjoy it. A lot of blind shots so probably needs a second time out there to really appreciate the strength of the holes.

A true links test with the hardest back 9 I have ever played. Course was in excellent condition as open qualifying was last week. I wouldn't recommend the course for a really high handicapper as it is too tough but it was a wonderful experience to play and the greens required real imagination.
