I often play this course as despite the fact it's a fairly short one, it's a real challenge. The fairways are pretty good and the greens are mostly in good condition. Great value for money at £20 on the weekend. Can get slow out there at times, you'll get quite a few 4 balls with mixed abilities. However, many of the holes provide a great challenge, with many hills and a few blind shots. Would highly recommend this course to anyone. Staff are friendly and very helpful.(Round Played: April 2015 - Score:87- Handicap: )

Good

Was a pleasant surprise, used to play here a lot as a junior and course was ok but then seemed to go through a few bad years so haven't played for a while. But all was very nice, greens where ok a little slow maybe but in decent condition, new nets in the practise area but still needs some work on the putting area. ?20 on a Sunday is a great price and had a chat with a few locals who where very nice. Shame the pro shop has closed and the little bit of golf equipment (tee?s, balls etc) for sale was pretty poor.
But we had fun on the course and forgot how interesting some of the holes are.

Hilly but short course

Overall, the course was good. Very good value (found on Golf Now website), ?21 for 18 holes. Early morning tee off. Course was busy, even at that early time. some picturesque holes, especially on the front 9, but some of the holes toward the end of the back 9 appear to be not as well maintained (one tee box was particularly poor). Some blind holes, challenge there, but will be punished if not straight/accurate. Proshop wasn't open early, and no box of score cards available for early tee times.

In very good condition and puts some courses twice its Round pace to shame.
A refreshing lack of claims about being the best public course in the area although it probably is.

FREE PINT OF LARGER! Yes finished when the sun went down and the barman / owner had chased up and pored me a pint and said don't worry, pay me next time - what a legend. The course was good, well kept for a public course. not so many long holes. Lots of hills and slopes. A good fun course. £15 for 18 holes is great value and for the price you won't be disappointed.

When you stand at the first tee you're given a glimpse of what's facing you in your round to come: A tricky uphiller where all you can see is the top of the flag and a couple of bunkers. There are eight par 3's and only one par 5, but don't turn up expecting the course to roll over for you. There are hanging lies and unfavourable bounces ahead, along with a few climbs too, but this a very fair course that seems to be popular with all who play here.

The course is good; short but challenging and requires great accuracy. No 2 shots will be the same due to the wild slopes and tiny greens.

However, the pace of play is unbearably slow. I have played twice now on weekends and it is just terrible. Long long waits on the tees and this was on a Saturday morning when it was members in front of us - never mind hackers who can't hit the ball. Had to give up both times after 14/15 holes as it had taken 5 hours.

Shame because the course is good. I recommend playing on a quiet evening when the course is quiet.

Tricky Ricky

Despite the course being relatively short in overall distance which even off the whites is under 5000 yards, the challenges are numerous. As you often read in pro tips - accuracy is essential & a well protected vertical par 3 followed by the only par 5 & then the #1 on the index is quite the opening. But it's enormously satisfying to get a good score on & the holes are varied & challenging thereafter. Another plus is the speed of getting round & a 2.5 hour round is not unheard of. The Greens are excellent & although there are some signs of autumn with leaf piles & early muddiness near the fairways it is a course that can be played throughout the year.

Tricky Ricky

The course played ok (for me, 21 handicap). The greens were mostly ok, a few had GUR or mud patches, but it is a public course. The challenge is as normal, quite hard; it is very narrow in some areas and some of the Par 3's are Very Hard! The two things that stuck out to me, were one, the slow play; 4 hours 25minutes for our round, which is awful. There was a competition on, but even so, there is no excuse, for looking for balls over 3 minutes, scoring and chatting on the green and general slow play. The second issue, not so big, was divots and pitch marks.... there were a lot of them!

Condition disgusting

Worse condition i ever played. Every tee was terrible, no grass, all torn up. Greens were a waste of time. Buggy ruined the game as the limiter would not let us anywhere remotely near. It even went of as we left one of the tees. Just to add insult to injury, the staff couldn't care less and were sarcastic

Absolute waste of money, DO NOT PLAY

Conditions ruins it

It's hard to feel ripped off for £27.50 on a summer sunday and yet the state of the course leads me to feel this way. Tee boxes are bare and muddy and uneven. Greens have patches and mud everywhere, and are incredibly slow.
It's a shame because this is a fun course in terms of layout. Obviously very short but presents fun challenges. The condition just ruins the experience.

I’ve been disappointed with the course over the winter as all the tee boxes were decommissioned & more recently the greens hadn’t been watered & were terrible. They’re better. Still plenty of divot holes on & around the fairways & where the ball bounces on the apron is a lottery as the greens have sped up so. I never score well here. It’s just too tight. Underestimate at your peril.

The course remains one to play straight on, it has perhaps too many Par 3 but it remains in the humbler shadow of Moor Park next door. It was wet, but drains better than others. Facilities limited but there's a bar and changing room.
