Whats Gone Wrong
Panshanger was renowned for the best public greens in Hertfordshirenot anymore.
Tee's uncared for.Fairways patchy. Green's were slow lots of ball plug marks. Do's no one repair these anymore. the holes were shoddy and collapsing plus lazy golfers not taking care in putting the flags in carefully.
4 hours for 14 holes very slow play.

The course is set in parkland on the edge of Welwyn Garden City. It measures around 6400 yards. I have always been satisfied with the condition, especially the greens whenever I have played. I think it offers very good value for money. And although it is a municipal, I prefer it most of the member courses in the area. There are now CGI videos of all 18 holes on YouTube.

For me, this is the closest course to my home. Great public course. It could do with a little TLC in places (get some of the stones out of the bunkers) but overall good value, fair challenge ( lots of slopes/ no water ). Practice area reasonable for irons but driving nets poor condition. Putting green is good but faster than actual geeens. There is a bar attached but not great for real ale fans. Food pretty good. There's no place like home!

Best Public Course in the Area
Pasnshanger is by far the best public course in all of the surrounding area. It is a tough challange for all players, especially right handed players who have a natural fade as the course is designed with sloping faurways, out of bounds and doglegs that all go against your natural shape. Course is in a good condition and greens true. There is no clubhouse as such but the onsite "Pub" the View is run by the same people as Tewinbury Farm Hotel.Reviewer Rating

nicely maintained course
The only problem was trying to pay as on arrival the chap in the shop was rather unhelpful and would not take payment, we were told we had to pay using on-line or App. Both of which failed. The Chap in the office eventually came out to us on the first tee and said we could pay in the shop after all. So why make it so difficult as we wasted practice time messing about with mobiles and an app that proved difficult to use.Reviewer Rating

good course played it on a very hot day the bunkers were rubbish and the buggies were very expensive and the sat navs did not work.

Some interesting holes and quite a variety of challenges. The bunkers need work and some areas are a little tatty, but to be expected to an extent bearing in mind I played at the end of March.

Breakfast was supplied before we played with a view of the 18th fairway and green. Course is interesting, challenging enough for a beginner, kept in good condition its a pleasure to play here.

One of the best Public Courses in hertfordshire. All of the holes with Out of Bounds are on the right of fairways which comvery ined with lots of sloping fairways makes it Tough for anyone with a tendency to slice, Aghree with previous advice that on certain long holes leave the driver in teh bag. Greens always good. Very good value for money if you use some of their special deals.

A very nice course, it's tight and I only used a 5 wood of the tee (kept the driver in the bag!) The greens were excellent and would say it's well worth a visit.
