Exceptional hazards with ok-ish greens
The layout at Panshanger is challenging. After you've dodged the sand & earth dunes in the car parks, you can hire a brand new buggy that now does not come with a GPS map of the course, but you do get that new plastic smell. Once you've spend some time finding a spot on a tee that where your feet are not in a divot hole, the burnt-out fairways are pretty slanting so landing your ball on them will give you a differing approach shot each and every time. The greens are well watered from the many broken sprinklers, just pray your line of sight to the pin does not have bird holes on it. Lag putting around these is the name of the game. The hazards are exceptional. The greenkeeping staff must have spent hours putting tonnes of stones into the earth/sand mix, but they're not called hazards for nothing are they. On the dog-leg holes, don't take too much club or ball will likely go down a rabbit hole/badger set, and a trip to hospital might ensue.Reviewer Rating

Awful bunkers
Greens were uneven, sparse of grass, with residue and sand from seasonal aeration. The bunkers had a topping of fresh sand, which failed to disguise the abundance of stones present. Some larger than a golf ball, but all with the potential to damage a club face.Reviewer Rating

Challenging course greens not so good
potential to be a very nice course but the greens are not very good. Challenging holes and a lovely clubhouse i suppose £27 for a Saturday morning is on the cheap side these days(Round played: Oct 2021 - Score: 96 Handicap: 15.9)

Whats Gone Wrong
Panshanger was renowned for the best public greens in Hertfordshirenot anymore.
Tee's uncared for.Fairways patchy. Green's were slow lots of ball plug marks. Do's no one repair these anymore. the holes were shoddy and collapsing plus lazy golfers not taking care in putting the flags in carefully.
4 hours for 14 holes very slow play.
