The course and club facilities have been improved, as has the driving range. But the course drainage is poor. The tees, fairways and greens were very wet. Prepare to get muddy if it's been wet. If they could improve that then it would be a really good 9 hole course.

Good bet for a beginners course as it does get you playing various shots and is cheap but course quality is low. Winter tees were tatty and the fairways and greens very long grassed and slow. Practice facilities on site are also useful.

This short and challenging course can be quite fun whith some interesting holes. The course could be maitained better and the greens could be more consistant.

Oh dear!

Visited here several times a year over the last few years but sadly I won't be going back. It's saving grace has always been good value for money at a fiver for 9 holes and the friendliness. This compensates for the months of sogginess due to poor drainage, poor greens and variable course conditions. I visited today for the first time in a few months to be greeted by a doubling of the green fee for occasional visitors and the course in the worst condition I've ever seen it. Friendly as always, however my back lawn is better than some of the greens and basically there's evidence of cost cutting everywhere. I understand that green fees have to rise, but it is now way over priced given the poor quality of the course. Shame really as it's a good challenge when at it's best.

I first played on this course about 8 years ago... It was just about ok then... but it has deteriorated each year... Now it is shockingly bad.. the greens are so bad your ball will not roll... it will bump from side to side and up and down, changing direction here... not just because of all the pitch marks, but because of the weeds!
If golf courses were restaurants this course would be McDonalds .

This really is a farmers field, and only worth visiting if you live close by and the weather is fine. It is convenient because you don't need to book and can pretty much always get a game.

Don't even bother during wet weather. The slightest sniff of rain and the place becomes a bog. Quite seriously, you really do need to ford streams and boggy areas to progress up the fairway (2nd hole is a prime example).

Don't worry about dress code. Jeans and tank tops are welcome - draw your own conclusions.

Greens also get extremely boggy when wet. Nobody seems to bother replacing divots or repairing ball marks on the greens. When visiting earlier this week, there were even divots on several of the greens (unrepaired). I think the only treatment the course gets is an occassional mowing.

There are bunkers (or swimming pools in the rain). They have little sand and plenty of stones.

In terms of difficulty, it is a tricky layout. Often fairly tight out-of-bounds on the right (on at least 4 holes) punitive rough in many places and greens that have exceptional slopes (notably the 7th which is like a ski slope). Not so much a challenege as an ordeal.

Shop is functional (i.e. they can take your money and make you a cup of tea) and the welcome is perfectly good. Putting green currently has a great channel dug across the middle of it. Driving range is uncovered, uphill and poor quality balls.

Overall, cheap, but not particularly cheerful.

Silly course, not very well thought of when designed. fairways are not very well kept and greens designed stupid slopy. Not worth of the £9 for visitors, go elsewhere like Fourmarks or Avington for better experience.
