This was a beautifully kept course and had some challenging holes. Considering how tight the area is the layout is good. Its a credit to the greenstaff. 1 downer was that buggies were booked so we left trollys at home, only to find out one buggie was out of action so we had to use the trolleys. A minor gripe that couldnt be helped.

However, I have never felt more uncomfortable and unwelcome at a golf club. As a visitor paying £40 a round, I do not expect to spied on by an elderly member. We were followed round the first 5 holes by an elderly chap in his own buggie. The shop pro came out after 2 complaints had been made against. the pro handled this extremly well and apologiesd to us for the attitude of the members. This is the sort of club that gives golf a bad name. I will not return which is a shame because it really is a beautiful course to play.

I think it was in good condition but can only remember how dangerous and slow it was.

Course was badly waterlogged from heavy rain the previous day, 7 temporary greens. was borderline as to whether is should be open. Otherwise everything else good.

The course had a very awkward and 'dangerous' layout, you had greens right in front of a few tee boxes, so you constantly had to wait for groups to finish putting before you could tee off or let others tee off before you could putt out, so there was a lot of waiting around and made the round quite slow. A lot of the Tee areas were dangerously close to a lot of greens also which meant you had balls dropping near you. The condition of the course was quite good, but as an overall experience I wouldn't recommend it.

The day started out poorly with a very bad welcome from both shop and members. I had been invited by a member to play. (it was ladies morning, which we were aware of) We had a number of people (all members) stop us on the way to the practise area and ask what we were doing there and that we wouldn't be able to tee off for at least 3 hours. The welcome alone stopped us from wanting to spend a penny at the club so we skipped the bar area both before and after the round.
Despite the welcome we did have a pleasant round of golf on a well maintained golf course. It is a short course with only the 1 par 5 so for the low handicap players or the grip and rip type players this may not be a course for you. North Oxford is a keep it in play and get rewarded type course with a clever bit of course management you can get around this course without getting your driver out the bag and still shoot a low score.
I am glad to say there were some friendly faces around the course as we did get waved through at one point and had a quick chat while we waited to tee off.
The greens ran very nicely although were starting to show the early signs of disease, which at this time of year is fairly common for a lot of courses.
While I would say its a course which deserves to be played and would recommend you play the course I wouldn't recommend the visit overall. It's not too expensive and is well maintained, I will not be going back there again due to the incredibly poor attitude which will need to change should they wish to attract people to the club. It was very noticeable that the main bulk of the members are of the older generation, which comes as no surprise with the shortness of the course.
I changed my mind last minute to give this a good rating rather than fair, simply due to the good condition of the course.
Date of round was Nov 4th. I shot a 75.
