Neat and tidy

Mere always comes with a good reputation. I'd not played it since a junior competition 20 years ago but it's still as good as it was back then.

Lovely views, lots of tree lined holes, great contours on the greens - it's a good solid course

Lovely course, very easy to play

Booked a spa and golf weekend with the wife and played the course as part of it. Pro shop was really helpful and the golf starter explained some of the history of the course and the lovely houses surrounding it. The course itself is quite an interesting layout with very forgiving rough, which means high scores can be expected, I went round in 72 off a 8 handicap. Course condition was absolutely fine and I actually enjoyed viewing the surrounding properties as much as playing it. I would certainly be happy to play it again as part of a weekend away with the wife, but I think its potentially too easy for some of our guys as we rarely get away for weekends, so I doubt we would come as a society. Lovely hotel and facilities and the whole celebratory element of being in Knutsford is pretty cool. Would return on my own, but not with our society.

A beautiful location, with superb hotel/golf facilities. Chipping area could’ve better and the driving range expensive £5 for 35 balls; you do play into the mere though. Some of the areas off the fairways and around the green were patchy, from the wet weather and heavy golf traffic, I presume, but overall a fantastic days golf and lunch. The greens tees and fairways were some of the best I’ve played this year.

Tough yet enjoyable

Mere is a Course I love playing but only once has it returned the love. It's tough if you're not on form off the tee.
It can also be a walking challenge so a buggy is advisable.
I?d recommend it, but it's expensive.

If it was good in a hurricane, it must be decent

Played very much out of season in mid-October. The was a hurricane blowing with gusts up to 50mph but normally it was about 20mph. The light was weird, the leaves were on the ground and with the wind it proved difficult finding balls in the leaves. However in summer this must be a great course with lots of different types of par 4, think most of the par 3s are about the same as I hit 8 iron off most of them.

Lovely lay out, played in fantastic weather, tees and fairways as good as I have seen at Mere. Greens were a little disappointing still evident drainage lines a little spoiling, decent enough value when you get £30 on tee off times

Score 119 | Handicap 24 | Fee £30

I played at The Mere in Knutsford yesterday, what a lovely course that is. Fantastic scenery, great fairways and some very quick greens. I found the course quite challenging, I shot 119 and found myself in several bunkers, however I did par 2 holes so I was happy with that to be honest.

Not sure I would have been quite so happy if I had to pay £75 for a round of Golf, luckily we got on for £30 due to some greens still being shortened due to the Winter.

It's also a shame the service by the resort staff wasn't as impressive as the course, otherwise the experience would have been great.

Would love to return in Summer, hopefully the attitude of the staff might have improved with the course. Value for money at £30 not £75!

Played with society. Got free token to driving range to warm up. Considering the time of year and the fact that it had heavily rained days before, course was in a great condition. All tees and greens were in play. Pro shop staff couldn't have been more helpful. It is pricey but you do get a great standard of course. I would play again.

Lovely course, amazing facilities, but annoying to be hurried around just because Robbie Savage and Michael Vaughan were three holes behind our society teams.
