What the club says: The 6,817-yard, par-71 course was created out of 150 acres of Cheshire parkland in 1934. Mature trees, rhododendron bushes and the lake add considerable charm to a day’s golf but they are also there to test you.

Great

Great

Neat and tidy
Mere always comes with a good reputation. I'd not played it since a junior competition 20 years ago but it's still as good as it was back then.Lovely views, lots of tree lined holes, great contours on the greens - it's a good solid course

Lovely course, very easy to play
Booked a spa and golf weekend with the wife and played the course as part of it. Pro shop was really helpful and the golf starter explained some of the history of the course and the lovely houses surrounding it. The course itself is quite an interesting layout with very forgiving rough, which means high scores can be expected, I went round in 72 off a 8 handicap. Course condition was absolutely fine and I actually enjoyed viewing the surrounding properties as much as playing it. I would certainly be happy to play it again as part of a weekend away with the wife, but I think its potentially too easy for some of our guys as we rarely get away for weekends, so I doubt we would come as a society. Lovely hotel and facilities and the whole celebratory element of being in Knutsford is pretty cool. Would return on my own, but not with our society.

Scenic Parkland Course
Fairways, bunkers, greens in good condition. Challenging course but suitable for all handicappers(Round played: May 2019 - Score: 115 Handicap: 25.1)

(Round played: May 2019 - Score: 86 Handicap: 12)

For a so called premium facility the overall condition of the course wasn't good

Needs a re-think
I've played Mere several times now and each time I expect better. There's no doubt the setting, hotel, pro-shop and facilities are excellent, but the course is a real let down. Yesterday we were charged ?50 as mid-week visitors. The tees were poor, greens were terrible, fairways in places should have been closed. Shame to say but I doubt i'll return.

Tough yet enjoyable
Mere is a Course I love playing but only once has it returned the love. It?s tough if you?re not on form off the tee.It can also be a walking challenge so a buggy is advisable.
I?d recommend it, but it?s expensive.

Disappointing
For a supposedly championship course the quality of the greens etc were very poor
