Needs a re-think
I've played Mere several times now and each time I expect better. There's no doubt the setting, hotel, pro-shop and facilities are excellent, but the course is a real let down. Yesterday we were charged ?50 as mid-week visitors. The tees were poor, greens were terrible, fairways in places should have been closed. Shame to say but I doubt i'll return.Reviewer Rating

fairways were poor not much grass on them, bear lies, general condition of course poor lack of TLC. GREEN quick but true.

It appeared to be a nice layout and in fair condition, its just a shame that the course is not fully open. after contacting the course and the automated serves stating 18 holes open and buggies were available, and then speaking to the club shop, who also confirmed that 18 holes were open and there were no temp tees or greens. as the round progressed it was frustrating to find out that 14 of the holes were on winter tees despite the fact it was the 1st of april and the tee boxes appeared to be in good condition, and large enough to render the winter boxes obsolete. The winter tees shortening the course considerably, the 4th hole a par 4 was reduced by 80 yards for the yellow tee markers. If i hadn't been misled by the staff i wouldn't have reserved a tee, and will not be returning.

Played a couple of weeks ago and then caddied for a friend in The Open Qualifier. Not the standard I would expect for holding such a coveted event. Fairways and Greens were ok and the place is fairly well looked after. There was was very little sand in the bunkers and what was there looked and felt like it had come from the local builders merchants.
Service in the club was poor for such an "exclusive" club. There were no course planners available a week before the open qualifier when the course was inundated with people practicing for it.
Not very friendly, not as good as they think they are and quite frankly I wouldn't rush back there. Dissapointlngly overhyped and over priced.

The course is a well laid out track. Unfortunately the course was in dire need of watering due to the amount of sun we had. Would definitely go again.

Not very impressed with the condition of some of the fairways

Nice but not all that
goGot a deal to play on Sunday afternoon of bank holiday. ?45 quid to play millionaire's golf (played through a 2 ball on second and then saw no-one else) was about fair value. Good last 4 holes but not particularly interesting layout particularly on front 9. Greens were ok but expected a better standard, bobbly in places. Enjoyed the round but a little disappointed overall. Service and facilities excellent.Reviewer Rating

Fun but wish it was all like the last 4 holes
Nice course, absolutely loved the last 4 holes especially. For the chat about the course and set up it hasn't been that well looked after and the course wasn't it the best of nick(Round played: Jul 2017 - Score: 98 Handicap: 20.2)

Looked forward to playing this course for ages. Facilities and surroundings no doubt are spot on however the course is in great condition but nothing special. Not enough sand in bunkers. I would suggest maybe getting rid of half of them. Its a bit boring until last 4 holes. Very tough course and tough greens

Good deal for the round - tough and long front 9 which felt like a slog, back 9 was more what i would expect from such an exclusive course. Greens were bumpy and sticky due to recent poor weather.
