BUT they didn't have our booking (despite me having a confirmation email) and we then endured the longest 2 ball round of my life - nearly 5 hours!
Desperately needs a Marshall to ensure players are aware of what's expected with pace of play and to get them back on track when out of postion. They have a Marshall hut on the 10th tee so why not use it?

Nice course with great scenery
Played Hollins Hall a few times now and have always enjoyed playing it when under the Marriott brand but was disappointed on this occasion. Hotel showing signs that the course is secondary to the accommodation, pro shop now gone instead it is a small amusement arcade with just a desk for the golf check in. Course showing signs of neglect, tee beds scruffy, fairways not mown, no definition. Greens were good but too quick for this type of course. Shame as it could be an excellent golf course with some great holes and lovely scenery, so come on Elite get it sorted.(Round played: Aug 2019 - Score: 79 Handicap: 6.2)

Course not really ready
Tee boxes and greens not in good condition yet, fairways a bit thin and claggy. Probavbly rate a lot better when there has been a period of fine weather. Some good holes especially on the back 9 which is superior to the front 9Reviewer Rating

Hollins Hills
Renamed Hollins Hills, First time here, but was warned it was quite hilly. lol. the lift to the first tee was much appreciated. The fairways were very dry due to the lack of rain and we found the greens to be a little bobbly. but despite this, we enjoyed the challenge in very warm conditions. I Know next time to hire a buggy tho.Reviewer Rating

Hilly and challenging, slow play!
Played on spec on a Sunday afternoon. The standard pay and play rate was good, the £5 resident rate reduction to £17.50 made it extremely good value. Not overly long but long enough. However, length isn't this course's defence, it is its undulating, often hilly, layout with the majority of greens raised up with significant drop-offs, and the fact that much of the course is exposed to the moorland winds. The back 9 is the more interesting of the two, but both 9s have some short and medium par 4s that need plotting and one or two genuinely good-looking holes.. Not a lot of need for driver but that's no bad thing given that miss the fairway on several holes and the deep stuff kicks in very quickly. Standing out for me were the greens. All undulating and very well kept, I didn't find a straight put all the way round. Only two gripes, one major one minor. The minor gripe was the state of the tees; not that they were awful but they weren't great, and that stood out given the excellent state of the rest of the course. My major gripe was the fantastically steep, long slog up to the 1st tee. It was a good job the tee wasn't busy, as I had to take a few minutes to get my breath back at the top. For me, that steep slog was bordering on unacceptable. Would play there again, but unless you're fit it strikes me you are almost forced to shell out for a buggy.Reviewer Rating
