Good layout, greens were being worked on when we played but the potential is there to be another great course in bucks.

Great course

What a lovely course. Tees and greens were spot on, fairways cur nicely and the rough is brutal(stay clear). Some very interesting hole layouts, there are 2 very tough holes on the back 9 and not knowing the place would change approach next time.

Only critism would be that the bunkers were very firm and not a lot of sand and the stroke index's could do with some adjusting.

Very nice

This is a very nice course. Lots of interesting holes which give you a few decisions to make. A smattering of water adds even more interest.
Overall its in good condition. The greens are good, not the fastest (unless you get on the top tier of the 8th green putting downhill, that bit is lightening!) but true.
A really good test of golf without being unnecessarily punishing.
The hotel is great, clean & tidy. All the staff are friendly & the food is superb.

Long and scenic, but mostly long

If you're looking at scoring well then you'd better hit it long, because this course is 6556 yards from the yellows, and six of the par 4's are 400+ yards. To be fair, the mostly wide fairways do allow you to open your shoulders, so that helps a little.

A lot of the courses I've played on recently are still struggling from last summer's heat, but that doesn't seem to be an issue with the quite lovely Magnolia Park's fairways. The greens and tees were very acceptable too.

As for the holes, there's a very scenic stretch from 5 through to 8, assuming you can block out the M40 running through the view. The 12th is a par 4 that forces you to choose between going left or right of a bunker and a line of trees that splits the fairway. Left is shorter and tighter, right is longer and wider. I chose the trees, but I suggest you don't do that. The 15th is a beast of a par 4 - 425 yards, and with a huge lake in front of the green.

I can't imagine that you'd be disappointed with a round here. Along with an excellent course, there's a clubhouse and practise facilities to match.

Very nice course.

I had this round on tee off time "hot deal" for only ?16 and it was excellent value
at that price. Being a fairly high handicapper I found the course very interesting
and quite challenging, the greens were quite fast and most having undulations that
made them a bit harder to read. Would definitely play here again. Pricey bar, two pints lager ?9.50.

could be a really good course. Probably worse tees I have played off, and for time of year by not the best greens ive played on (played Sutton green week before and they were like billard table). Considering all e-mails I receive mention Tony Jacklins involvement with club feel it doesn't live up yo his name. As I say shame as good testing course but we felt need some work to bring it up to TJ standard
