I enjoy this course it has a lot of contour and a river running through its centre. The greens need some work, however I believe the club is working hard to improve them.

Went onm a wednesday, which turned out to be "wacky wednesday" when the cost is £10 for the round whatever time of day you tee off. Great value! Despite other reviews, bunkers are now good and greens well kept. Everyone friendly, and the course is just tricky enough for most golfers I would think. I'll be going back.

After being offered an afternoon green fee for just £10 I must confess to being skeptical. I shouldn't have been. It's a good course and very under-priced in my opinion. Friendly staff and members, decent clubhouse and very pretty scenery. Seriously considering membership!

This course has massive potential as a challenge to even the best golfers, lots of water, up and down like the proverbial and small greens and as well as that the views are excellent. The 5th hole is as hard a test you would ever want – a tight tee shot to match the 18th at Augusta, over the river which horseshoes both sides then up a steep hill to a tight green and a deep bunker – love it! The 5 holes beyond the railway are flatter and of those the 14th and par 3 15th are particularly nice.I used to play this regularly in the past but the previous owners didn’t invest in it, however the new owners have spent a lot but unfortunately last summer the then ‘greenkeeper’ had let things go down hill ( and I don’t mean down the 18thhole, which goes down to the river , over it then up by which time you need that pint) and the fairways were poor with clover and bunkers not maintained - I heard that he had been dismissed and a new team brought in so decided to give it a look and was surprised at the big improvements in a short time . As you drive in you can see the well defined fairways with criss cross cuts on the far hillside and once on the course it is clear that the new green keeper is rapidly turning it round, the course is much tidier, most (but by when I visited not all) of the bunkers are neat and tidy, the fairways are well cut and have good thick turf and the greens although a bit on the slow side (they always were) play true and hold a ball okay, there has also been an extensive tree planting programme which will add further to the tightness of the course once they mature. The day I was there they were testing some sprinklers on the 18th hole and apparently hope to have a new system working ready for next spring (a failed system was another legacy of the now departed ex green keeper). All the signs are promising and I look forward to returning soon as the new regime gets hold of things – if they do there could be rosy days ahead, I will score 'very good' for now and give an 'excellent' in the future if the improvements continue. Off the course the club house is friendly, good food at a reasonable price and if you’re there at the right time even Greavsie might be around to have a chat and sign a photo or two – I had a good chat! There’s a nice decking area overlooking the course to sit around and watch the action on the 18th. – worth a visit

Long course with slow greens. Well designed course requires some thinking to put the ball in the right place.

Golfshake Team ReviewAfter paying £16 for the first round here they give you a card which will allow you to play any time for £10 as many time as you like and will make use of that.

As you pull in to the club you get a great view of some of the course in what seems to be a valley and looks like its going to be a tough round on the legs, dont let this put you off. Yes its a long way to the top part of the course but the views are stunning when you reach the summit.

The course itself is very good, nice mixture of holes. The front 9 has 3 par 5's and only 1 on the back with very long and short par 3's.

The river seems to be everywhere here and water can come into play on a number of holes if your wayward from the tee's.

2 things for me that let the course down. firstly its not really clearly marked where the next tee is but more importantly I spent a couple of minutes on each green reparing pitch marks which let;s the otherwise excellent receptive greens.

All in all I had a good round and will return soon.

The Course is slowly improving and can see the developments will help

Its a challenging course with some very narrow tee shots, don't underestimate its length, most of the holes undulate or water hazards.

The Greens however are slow and difficult to read.

Overall a course that is growing and needs work.

Deceptively tricky course, with the valley running through the middle of the course presenting a few challenging lies on every round, the river to contend with and some tricky holes.

The course still needs work, the driving range is still being built and the tunnel under the bridge to some of the back 9 needs a lot of work, but overall its very good value for money and well worth a visit.

The course is very playable, and the fairways and greens are as good as ever. A lot of rough has been cut shorter which opened up the fairways. Work is in progress on the bunkers. This valley course has always been attracted me but the layout and especially the very good prices bring me back. very friendly club house and good driving range
