Fair layout a good test of golf. Many improvements over the last few years resulting in a course in excellent condition with fairly quick and true greens

Superb course, greens among of the best I've played, one minor irritation was the attitude of one of the green staff who on one hole carried on mowing a fairway whilst I was waiting to play my 2nd shot, probably wanted to finish

Good course, a bit tight in places, with greens and tees close together in a few places. We had to wait nearly 10 mins before teeing off, whilst a 4 ball putted out. Greens were very fast

Great course and lovely clubhouse - very friendly club and members. The greens were very good indeed and running fast and true.

The set up of Leyland is superb and they are doing a great job in trying to step up a level. The first couple of holes lure youn in to a false impression that its very "up and down". From 3 onwards, the character kicks in and the course becomes a little gem. Some good variation in layouts, from long par 4's to tricks par 3's and clever hazard positioning on par 5's.
However, I have one major concern. The wetness of the course.
Admittedly, we have had a poor summer and it has been the wettest on record. However, on the day I played in October it had been reasonably dry for 7-10 days previous with only light rain. However, the first 2 holes were like bogs and the ground in the fairway was soft and "squidgy" under foot. The course really should have been closed. The par 3's were much better but venture off the fairway and it was like sand in parts it was then uneven under my feet.
It was a big let down for the course as with better drainage this could be a real cracker. Thats probably why it is so cheap at the minute.
Worth a run if the conditions are dry. If wet......avoid.
