What The Club Says

This magnificent heathland course is consistently ranked among the top 100 courses in the British Isles by Golf World. It dates back to 1892 and the original 18 holes were extended to 27 under Enid Blyton's ownership. It has great coastal views across The Solent to the Isle of Wight and if you fancy arriving at the course in style, there is a ferry that can take you to the course across the water.

We played the Dene course (2 x 9 holes). The views are spectacular but that was the best thing about it. I accept that this is the Club's secondary facility but the fairways were bald in places, full of weeds, not cut recently, the greens could hardly described as greens. Without significant maintenance and watering I can't see how this can stay open.

Beautiful, testing course

10/10 views, great clubhouse, very exposed so be ready for wind. But a pleasure to play, will definitely return.

The 10th for me was the standout hole today, not for its difficulty but for the colours. 393 yards and another slightly blind tee shot. We walked down the fairway stopping in the proximity of the marker to take in what lies ahead, with the green slightly below us with a large sand dune covered in heather behind it. The sunshine influencing nature's colours made this shot even more spectacular.

It's just a good test of golf with great views over Studland Bay. OK the clubhouse isn't the prettiest but the service was very good.

Spectacular

On a hot summer day the course was great and the views spectacular. There is a premium on finding fairways here as the gorse, heather and rough are penal. The usual sea breezes have to be factored in. The fairways were running and the greens were fast and true. We really enjoyed it.

Played here with two other golfers on the 31st August. The weather for the front nine was atrocious but thankfully the back 9 was much better and we even saw some sun! The staff in the pro shop were so welcoming and helpful. The course is very good but the views are amazing - absolutely love this course and will be back to play again.

Mr

I think this is God’s own golf course. The views are stunning and it’s a good test of golf especially in the wind. The flora and fauna are out of the top drawer. Recent improvements have transformed the course from how it was a couple of years back.
