Shocking
I played this place in August 2019, so it should have been immaculate, but it wasn't. I have never been so disappointed after walking off a golf course EVER. A serious case of "Emperors New Clothes" I think. After playing £100 to play I expected it to be far far better than it was. I've played infinitely better places for far less money. The course was scruffy, sure it's a links, but really??? Unkempt bunkers. Bunkers without sand. One hundred notes and no sand in bunkers? Greens that were mottled in colour, This was AUGUST for god's sake!!!!! They should have been GREEN. They looked like they had just come out of a horrendous winter. The first fairway was awash with divots all in the same place. It appeared that someone had been practicing firing into the green! This set the tone. Very unfriendly lady in the shop. We were handing over £200, surely a smile would have been the least to get in return? Overall a shocking experience and one I will never repeat. (Yes I did contact the club over this and informed a member who played behind us on the day in question of my opinion).Reviewer Rating

If you're there on the wrong day you'll probably find you spend most of the time looking for balls in the long rough.
Was disappointed that they charged my £60 and didn't tell me they'd just spiked all the greens - bit out of order!
Honestly - probably wouldn't be on the list of revisits - over priced and obviously don't really want visitors there....

Nice course but expensive
A lovely golf course with nice fairways and greens. There were disappointments however - they call it a links course and certainly the back 9 looks and feels as such. However the front 9, apart from the pot bunkers, is very ordinary. Also paths to following holes poorly signposted with many rubber mats with grass growing through.I've played several links courses and I've never seen such lush fairways and green aprons. Many approaches to tee boxes deep lush grass.
We started our round at 4pm and we're charged £75.00 (£90.00 before 4pm). This was expensive and not good value for money. I can only assume that visitors (many holiday makers) are seen as easy prey and will pay such prices as they are on holiday.
The club house was very average although the locker room lovely. Engaging and friendly staff. Members NOT friendly, decidedly very stiff. Pro shop ridiculously expensive (a sleeve of Pro V1 £14.50).
In my view, this is a golf course/club that believes that it is a cut above the rest and if visitors continue to pay excessive green fees then I suspect it will remain so.
Enjoyed the experience, but unless the green fees were reduced would not be back.

Our first day was spent at Hunstanton GC. First-up we received a warm welcome in the pro shop and felt the welcome in the clubhouse, particularly post-round was great. Sometimes in these older clubs you can feel as if you’re a little under -stated but have to say we were made to feel most welcome.
On to the course itself…HGC is a fairly traditional linksy style course – with a degree of ‘out and back ‘ to its layout, though not to the extent of say Royal Cinque Ports. Given the prolonged dry spell preceding our visit we felt the course was in good shape and offered the chance to score fairly well. It’s a relatively flat links course, there are one or two minor climbs, but generally it’s a flattish layout and therefore only a few blind tee shots compared to some other links courses we’ve played over the years. It’s definitely a more scoreable course for the average golfer than say Burnham & Berrow or the afore-mentioned RCP
The course is an enjoyable one to play, wouldn’t say there are too many stand-out holes where you’d stand on the tee and take it all in (as we’ve experienced with some other highly rated links courses), but nonetheless it is well worth visiting. Most notable holes are probably the short par 4 6th, where the green is nicely plateaued surrounded by deep mound-side bunkers; the picturesque par three 7th, across the small valley to an undulating green; and the teasing 16th par 3, slightly downhill to a green that’s harder to hit than it appears.
The greens were true and good quality, as you’d expect for such a highly-rated course, and deceptively flatter than they appear on several holes – over-borrowing was all too commonplace.
To pre-book as a group it cost £75 each, which is probably in line with the going rate for premium courses such as this although we wouldn’t necessarily agree that HGC be rated above Sheringham, where we played two days later.

Fantastic, authentic test of links golf
Challenging but truly enjoyable test of golf. A true links with some really memorable holes and beautifully kept. The pro was very friendly and helpful and the catering staff were very friendly too. Worth a visit and somewhere I will go back to but remember it is a 2-ball or fore some course only.(Round played: May 2018 - Score: 95 Handicap: )

This is course is very challenging. It was a good day today and the wind was 3 clubs difference. The thick rough will swallow balls. A really great course. Very good practice facilities.

Unlike the other review I found the people at the club house very welcoming, great bar food and facilities. Yes it was expensive but well worth it in my view.
