Visited Henley for the first time recently thanks to an outstanding £10 green fee courtesy of Teeofftimes. First impressions were excellent. Friendly members in the car park, well appointed pro shop and a very helpful and welcoming pro. Moving round to the first, you begin to see the youthful aspect of the course as it appears open with lots of young trees which in 50 years will make this a tight course! A friendly par 5 to start but all 3 of us walked down the fairway saying "I'm glad we only paid £10" purely down to the state of the fairway and first cut! It had the feel of a very amateur green keeping operation as even the areas which see little traffic/divots were tufty, uneven and just gave a poor first impression. Someone obviously knows what they're doing as the greens generally ran well and the back 9 was much more manicured with the 10th, 11th and 18th tees standing out but some greens had large dark patches of diseased grass and the fringes were shoddy in places. Overall we enjoyed our round. It's nice to play a course which is long enough to make you go at it off the tee and give you a bit of room to do so. The hole plan with pro tip on each tee is a nice touch and the 18th followed by spike bar and terrace is a lovely finish but this is far from a £30-40 course (normal green fees) and your beer will taste very bitter if you pay this!

Course in good condition. Greens fast but after recent rain balls chipped onto the green would hold up nicely. First cut of rough a little long but ok, make sure you do not go offline into the longer stuff though. Fairways running nicely. Layout always nice to play and clubhouse and pro shop very friendly. Value for money really good.

What a cracking course... If a little muddy...
We had our tee booked for 110:04am and as usual turned up way too early. I stuck my face into the pro Shop mentioned my name and the Pro immediately knew what I had booked. For me this was a bit plus, as too many courses do not take the time to make themselves aware of who is playing when and wait till last minute...
A coffee later and the final member of our 4 ball turned up and we hit the First Tee... That is once we plowed through the mud, which didn't bode well for the rest of the course. But, that being said, given the time of year, it's just one of those things you have to accept.
The course (apart from the muddy bits) was in good condition, you could see it's a new course by the fresh drainage ditches plus a few other tells, which one of the 4 ball was pointing out, him being a greenkeeper at a very old and large course was very knowledgable. Me, I loved it, plenty of length, and some really nice tight short holes.
In a word, cracking..

Good course and a good challenge for the high handicapper, pro in the shop was great and very helpful and if you go try the club sarnie after well worth it.

The course is very long. Great for big driving and long irons. It is quite undulating over the crest of a hill and we had quite strong winds throughout our round, which added difficulty. Great shop and clubhouse and the tees are in lovely condition. Course is on clay soil so grass not great in places, and trees are still young, but it will develop into a lovely and difficult course when the trees grow big.
Greens in good condition but covered in pitch marks. REPAIR YOUR PITCH MARKS!

Originally a JamesBraid design, it has retained many of the 1907 features. Great grass on fairways and fabulous greens. Six par threes, 6 fours and 5 par fives……a real challenge. Good food and beer, what more can one ask.

A nice course
A nice golf course & in good condition.The greens had just been hollow tined, so it was hard to judge them, but they looked in good condition. Plenty of sand in the bunkers.
Most of the holes are tree lined, so accuracy is key. It did get a bit 'samey' in places, but at 12.50 on Golf Tee times, it's great value for money.
Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

Have played this course over the last 2months,difficult conditions due to hot summer. Greens have improved greatly and are fast and quite hard to read, unfortunately the fairways are poor and let the course down.staff in bar are great but pro very unfriendly.

Lovely course
Really enjoyed my first round here, as did my playing partner.It's a long but fair course and was in very good condition and the greens were very true.

Course in great condition
The course has come on leaps and bounds over the last 2 years. The greens are in fabulous condition apart from a mole on one which looked like it had a good time. We were off very early so it wouldn’t have been seen and repaired.(Round played: Jul 2018 - Score: 92 Handicap: 21.1)

Excellent course conditions, would recommend anyone to play there. We would have had food but they stopped serving at 4pm and we finished playing at 4.45pm. Excellent facilities and helpful staff.

Great course. Must visit. Greens and fairways were in great condition. Although the fairways are fairly wide the grass was quite long just off it making your ball a bit difficult to find. The greens we're rock hard making it difficult to hold your ball up. ( I think the sprinklers were out of service). It's the best I've seen the course in all the times I've played it.

Work Day Out
A group of around 40 of us took part in a golf day at Henley and overall it was an enjoyable day.The course is situated well, a nice drive up to the large clubhouse brings a very American feel to the place.
The practice facilities were good, although a little small and cramped if there had been a few more people looking to practice. Only one area to chip and putt meant things got a bit messy next to the first tee.
The course is long, especially with a strong wind which we had to deal with. I feel this was the only real challenge as the course is fairly straight forward other than that. A long par 3 is the other stand out hole that sticks in my mind.
All bunkers had been placed as GUR as there had been heavy rain the night before, a bit of an extreme measure as many of the bunkers were more than playable. The greens were in particularly poor state. They had been hollotined and didn't roll particularly well on some holes. A few of the guys had worse breaks than others.
As its been said, the course is young. In 10-15 years it could be a beauty when everything has had time to bed in.

Great Course worth a Visit
A super course in excellent condition. Quite a long course with only 3 par 3's one of which was over 200 yards. Long par 5's and lengthy 4's. A good test for both average and the experienced golfer , with a few holes with blind tee shots to test your accuracy. Plenty of bunkers , ponds and long grass to catch the wayward shot. Friendly Pro and other staff made you very welcome. Highly Recommended.Reviewer Rating
