Standards slipping
Despite the incredible amount of rainfall in August, I expected to still see good conditions at Harleyford... unfortunately the greens were all very bobbly and looked as though disease had taken over a number of them, and the fairways had a tinge of late autumn-ess to them with lots of dried mud, to the extent that I feel preferred lies should have been in play. The course itself is still a treat with few gimme holes and a great challenge, but the greens are what HGC is known for, and the greens are what's letting it down at the moment.Reviewer Rating

Excellent course in great condition
Really interesting layout, not least because of the wooden sculptures dotted around. Condition was excellent and a couple of fun holes during the round. A little pricey and a shame that the pro shop seemed to have closed relatively early. The signage could have been more user -friendly in terms of direction around the course. Nice little halfway house to get a hot or cold drink and a snack (vending machines).Reviewer Rating

Great Course
Terrific Harleyford round of golf as usual yesterday with my son who plays scratch comps these days. \We love this place and play regularly. \The course is in great condition this year due to the rain. Also it’s nice to see the rough being cut back this week. \Two things would improve the course I think: \- A manned half-way house with hot snacks and drinks selection like we had in the past. \- Some streams/ponds/water hazards\We also used the club for a fantastic anniversary party and we moor the boat in Harleyford Marina.\It’s nice to see young players being encouraged again. \All goodReviewer Rating

Lovely course in great condition
As a high handicapper this course was quite tough for me, but that didn't stop me enjoying it. Well maintained and a good interesting layout. Tough greens, lots of slopes and borrows. Tall rough is best avoided as it's very hard to find a ball in there. Very enjoyable and a friendly club(Round played: Aug 2021 - Score: 120 Handicap: 28)

Overpriced poor condition golf course
Disappointed with this golf club, lovely layout but condition was very bad, patchy fairways and embarrassing greens. Very overpriced green fee for what should be a ‘pay and play’. Maybe worth £15 not £50. Field of a driving range.Reviewer Rating

Stunning course and home of Tyrrell Hatton
Harleyford is a hidden gem in Marlow, impeccable greens and fairways all year round, not a sign of winter mats or winter greens even is the wettest days of winter due to the clever course design which naturally drains. The signature hole of 12 is a stunning and challenging PAR 3 and if you are lucky you might bump into Tyrrell Hatton as this is his home course when in the UK and I've been lucky enough to warm up with him on a chipping green a few times.

Awful experience
Chronologically, I started the day at the driving range, there were a variety of poor range balls and they were very much overpriced, if you pay for 25 balls, only 23 come out. I walked up to the driving range and it was effectively a field with very few targets (yardages on the post weren’t even accurate). The mats were rock solid and ‘stoney’ which I noticed caused damage to my irons. In addition, I couldn’t even hit driver because they don’t provide a rubber tee - you have to pay an extra £3 to borrow one. The chipping green was in poor condition, many divots taken out of the green and incredibly slow.Proceeding onto the course, the fairways looked like the rough and the greens were painfully slow. One of the positives is that the design of the course is relatively pleasant, it’s a real shame that it’s not maintained by the green keepers. After a tedious front 9, the ‘newly renovated’ half way house contained two vending machines that didn’t take cash and the machine didn’t register my / my partner’s contactless cards. The back 9 was equally disappointing, poor condition and slow bobbly greens.
After the round, we went into the clubhouse to have a drink and a small meal. The menu was simply appalling, overpriced and lacked a variety of healthy options. For instance, we ordered a bowl of chips (£3) to share, they were completely undercooked - we had a couple each and left them. I ordered bangers and mash (£10), the sausages were clearly of poor quality and the mash was mediocre. My wife ordered a Caesar salad (£9) and she thought it was very much ‘average’.
To conclude, this was a dreadful experience, we had high expectations from their social media platform images as well as the gallery on the Harleyford website however this was completely unrepresentative of the reality of the course. I’m very disappointed by the range, the condition of the course, the greens, the clubhouse menu (variety and pricing).
Before paying for green fees or range tokens at this club, I’d strongly recommend having a look around the place - in order to know the lifeless reality of the club before spending money.

Brilliant in every department
I booked a round with Leah in the office, who quickly gave us available tee times and prices, and directions to the course. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly by Leah and her team. Peter in the shop gave us advice on the course, and told us where the driving range and facilities were. We arrived with plenty of time to spare, so had breakfast in the lounge and watched the TV. The course was lovely, and had drained especially well from the recent downpours. No 2 holes are the same, with there being short and long holes, doglegs left and right, and uphill and downhill. The stand out hole is the 12th, a beautiful par 3 carved into a chalk cliff face. The greens are very undulating and difficult to read, so stay below hole! Whilst I played my wife walked the dogs by the river, and joined us (with the dogs!) in the clubhouse for lunch. Looking forward to returning sooner rather than later.Reviewer Rating
