What the club says: Winter Hill is a truly magnificent golf club owned and managed by the John Lewis Partnership.
The golf club was the dream child of John Spedan Lewis, the founder of the Partnership. Discovering Winter Hill for the first time is like uncovering a hidden treasure. Built on fast-draining terrain, it boasts exceptional views over Cookham, the River Thames and the famous Cliveden.
Played at its longest, the course is 6,364 yards in length with a par of 72. From the ladies' tee the course is 5,761 yards, par 73. There is also a practice area and a putting green available for those wishing to brush up on their skills and two fully qualified PGA golf professionals are on hand to book lessons and give expert advice.

In good condition
Nice course - not easy to play. The rough is very unforgiving this time of year. Greens in excellent condition, fairways not too bad, only a few bare spots. Bunkers and a bit stony and compact. But a very nice course to playReviewer Rating

Slow
Our bacon roll, coffee, 18 hole deal cost £43. Coffe undrinkable, bacon roll small bit ok. Course in reasonable nick, greens slowish. But oh my goodness five hours is just not acceptable. Now mainly pay and play and high number of hackers who take for ever with little consideration for others. No marshals to hurry them up. Won’t be going back.Reviewer Rating

Winter Wonderland Course
Always a pleasure playing this course, for a change not busy allowing a nice flow to the round. This course always amazes me how well kept it is for the type of course it is, getting a lot more foot traffic and some noticeable signs on the softish greens but amazing how presentable and enjoyable this course and clubhouse is.
Well worth the visit with some lovely holes and scenery to boot

Lovely course
I played Winter hill in the summer and it's a lovely course, I've heard it's great in other seasons also. The fried breakfast we had wasn't great but the service was ok. The bar area is ok and the Pro Shop isn't great. On the course though there?s no doubt, a great challenge and one of the better places we play.Reviewer Rating

Always a pleasure to play
A nice course to play, with the longer grass now making the rough a definite no-go area. If you stray into it then play a provisional! Greens in great condition, quite fast despite recent rainfall. Definitely worth a visit , and once played a return visit is very likelyReviewer Rating

Very nice course
Considering the awful weather recently the course was in fantastic condition. A few patches of laying water, some greens quite spongy, but still playing very well. And push/electric trolleys still being allowed.Always enjoy playing here - definitely worth a visit

A favourite course - worth a visit
Course in very good condition, thankfully long grass off the fairways been cut so no lost balls! Greens in good condition, a coule of bunkers could do with more sand in them. Staff excellent, food very good. Well worth a visitReviewer Rating

Winter Hill GC. A great course-Well worth a visit
Have wanted to play here for a few years now, but never had the opportunity as it was a private club owned by John Lewis. Fortunately for the likes of me and others I'm sure, JL have sold the course to GetGolfing and now non-members can play here. The course itself is great mix of long and short holes that meanders it's way in the Cookham countryside. The condition of the golf course was excellent, with well-maintained fairways and the greens were in great condition that allowed a true roll for accurate putting. The clubhouse and the staff were both welcoming, with a good variety of food and drink on offer. The only downside is there was no pro-shop, as it was closed, but there was some items available behind the bar, balls, tees, gloves, etc, where you checked in before playing. I'd recommend a visit.Reviewer Rating

Used to be owned by John Lewis but now in the hands of Get Golfing. The course remains in great condition. The greens were a little slow and needed a cut but were true and a real challenge.Great reception from the staff who were extremely friendly and helpful.
The course is fun to play and a challenge. Accuracy will get you a good score.
