First time visit in June 2014 and despite early phone call to confirm all OK for an early afternoon game, heart sank seeing the car park full - no worries, it was an morning competition and there hadn\'t been anyone of the 1st for ages - bril - just how I like it with my 1st tee nerves. Warm welcome in pro shop, very acceptable fee, in extremely lovely weather to the 1st where a respectable 3W was probably seen by none in the clubhouse, whereas a duff would probably have been seen and derided by half the poulation of Berkshire!\Pleasant short par 4 opener leading to the start of \"the climb!\". Three holes uphill, but in truth, not Cardiac jobs, the view up the hill from the 3rd tee being worse than the bite, whilst the steepest was looking up from the 4th, but at only 130 yards or so, was no problem, other than my thinned PW through the back. On the top now, and 5 & 6 long out and backs and then over the road to probably the prettiest part of the course, with fairways bordered by most attractive pines (not leylandi thankfully). Very nice and exacting DL right 10th and then a sharp dog leg left to a brind green - trust the marker high up in the tree.\Probably the weakest hole of the course was the 13th where the tee is hard right against the bushes and unless a drive is hit with a fade, it is very likely to go staight on into the trees - difficult short par 4 but unnatractive to play.\Back over the road and thence you can see just how far you have risen , with the early holes and clubhouse seemingly about 1000ft below!\The real drop is at 17 where a drive just to the right of the marker is ideal and then its steep down hill all the way to the green, fantastic hole, leading to the 18th, another good downhill drive to a green overlooking the clubhouse.\Quick pint before rushing off to pick family up, well it would have been had there been someone to serve me, took a valued 10 mins before anyone appeared! - only minus point of day!\Overall, absolute scorcher of a course, friendly welcome, value for money, tremendous views, all holes different, greens excellent, fairways perfect, and rough cut well back in most places - a delight to play - thankyou Goring & Streatley GC, a very pleasant day indeed

I've only played here a couple of times, but I'm not sure I know why I haven't made the effort to play here more often.

The fairways are generally fairly accommodating, and the holes are a good mixture of tougher and easier holes. It's certainly not an easy walk, but once you've made the climb to the 5th tee most of the hard walking is behind you. The views as you make your way back to the clubhouse make the climb well worth the effort.

Goring and Streatley is just an excellent place for a round of golf.

Wonderful course, members and facilities. Only complaint is the lull between the 5th and 8th holes, particularly the 5th and 6th which are, in comparison to the rest of the course, boring.

Would happilly be a member here if i were nearer, which says it all though.

Great course - not too long but very interesting and challenging. The greens are true and fast. Some wonderful holes. There is a long climb uphill on holes 2, 3 and 4 but once at the top its pretty level. the 17th is a great hole as you descend the course back towards the club house. The atmosphere at the club is a bit stuffy but you can overlook this because the golf is so good.

Fantastic course worth visiting

Course in immaculate condition. fairways like most courses greens and greens in perfect condition - fast and tricky making an superb and fair challenge. Lots of vertical climb and descent on a few holes. The 17th par 5 drops what feels like a few hundred feet to a green you have to approach from as left as you can get or you just won't stand a chance!

Lovely Course in great setting

Course is still undergoing drainage and irrigation work and with all the bad weather it was in very good condition. Greens maintenance had just been done so there was sand on the greens and if yo know how fast the greens usually are here it mad putting a challenge. There was a lot of people on the course today so there was some delays early in the round.

Fast & true

Though I have lived only twenty five miles from the club for decades I am ashamed to admit that this was my first round there. We played as a four ball on a hot summer's day with parched fairways. The greens were as good as had been promised and it was a most enjoyable day. The course is not long by today's standards, but the varied hilly terrain is aways interesting. It is an excellent test in positional play, especially for those slightly advanced in years.

28 members from Burnham Beeches Golf Club went for a day at Goring & Streatley. What a great day we had, from the very moment we arrived nothing was too much trouble from the team. Great opening speech, advising us of where to go and not go on the course, brilliant half way house. The course was excellent and met the legend David Lane! A superb selection of beers and wine afterwards, lovely food too. Thank you to all the staff at G&S - gets our vote and well worth a society outing for your society next summer.

One of the most immaculate courses i have played!

This is truly a hidden gem and I don't say that lightly, it really is. Played on a lovely summers morning in June 2023 and was met with greens like snooker tables, tee boxes like greens and fairways of lush green grass. Bunkers looking freshly cut and edged to perfection and the definition between fairways, first cut, aprons, fringes and greens was really well defined. The front 5 or 6 holes are torture on the heart rate and lungs but enjoy them as it's gets easier. Hole 2 was my favourite with hole 17 as the one I found most challenging. Absolutely lovely experience and I would go back if I did not live 3 hours away. If you are close by play it, you will not regret it. They do a good breakfast too.

A gem of a course.

Had heard good reviews and reports about Goring & Streatley, and I have to say, I wasn't disappointed. Tucked away in the Berkshire countryside. From the moment I arrived and was greeted by various people, I felt as though I was actually a member of the club, even if it was for one day. Was playing in a Mixed Pairs event, so expected the hospitality to be good and it was in fact, very good. There was a couple of driving nets by the car park. The putting green was lightning quick and I was informed by the starter for the competition, that the actual greens on the course were even quicker. That was an understatement. It was like putting on glass, they were very, very quick. There is also a chipping area and a green a short drive up a lane between the 2nd green and 3rd tee. The course itself meanders its way through some superb land that has been used to create a fantastic golf course. The first four holes gradually rise up, with holes 2, 3 and 4 having quite steep fairways and rises up, but after that, the course opens up and is fairly flat, before you then come dramatically down from the 17th and 18th to the clubhouse. There is a great selection of holes, with tempting drives to short par-4's and short par-3's, but with some long par 4's and 3's that test your game to the full. Run off areas flank a lot of the greens that make holding chips on them very hard, especially with the quickness of them. There is a halfway hut by the side of the 14th tee that stocks a good selection of drinks and nibbles. I would say my favourite holes would be 14 to 18, the finishing 5 holes offer just about everything you want from a golf course. A shortish par 4, a mid-length par-5, with some of the best views you're likely to see on a golf course, a long par-3 and the finishing 2 holes would grace most courses. A dramatic downhill par-5, that you can't actually see from the tee, but it's superb and the 18th is a great finishing par-4 that sweeps downhill again, towards the impressive, new look clubhouse. Was I impressed, yes. Did it meet expectation, yes. Would I return and play again, a definite yes. Thumbs up from me.
