Nice course really good condition considering the terrible may weather.Although not my favourite course in Gloucester I have become a member due to the club offering the best deal.
Staff here are excellent and members and guests are friendly.

Membership
Due to my limited availability(time not covid related) to play golf I was looking for flexi memberships at Thornbury, the Bristol, Llanwern. However just before committing to one of these flexi memberships I discovered the Bells Hotel Forest of Dean golf club.Where full membership is around the same price as other other clubs flexi membership.Having never played the course before I decided to trial the course. I was pleasantly surprised off the yellows is 5690 yards with several blind tee shots in the rolling land. It is a pretty open course but a tree is likely to hinder your approach shot if you're wild off the tee but you're likely to find the ball, I personally think that taking driver off every tee is probably possible however you might be better taking a long iron or hybrid off multiple holes for a better approach shot, water does come into play on multiple holes near the green and the bunkers are in fairly good condition. It only has two par 5s which is probably it's only real negative. Unsurprisingly because it is such good value for money the course has been busy but I played slower rounds at other clubs. So if you're a golfer which gets frustrated with having to wait, this probably isn't the course for you. However I can say that the people I have met have been very friendly.

Curate's Egg
Very enjoyable, but you need to know your way around, as the layout can be confusing. In one or two places you have to cross other fairways to get to the next tee. We all felt the 10th hole was a bit of an unfair challenge off the tee, especially for seniors. One ball was lost, one nearly cleared the trees but was held up enough to drop into the ditch, and one went left, and was the only one that scored on that hole.Reviewer Rating

Lovely course in the forest of dean
Played here when golf clubs started to reopen from Covid as this was one of the first in the area to allow non-members. The course was in good condition and was a nice challenge in a lovely location. Enjoyed the round and would definitely play againReviewer Rating
