Used the course for a works charity event. Fantastic value for money. Very well kept municipal and a good challenge for mix of golf handicaps

The course has been improved a great deal,rough kept to a minimum.The greens are reduced in size as are the fairways and it can become quite wet. Be careful not to hit the numerous dog walkers.Greenkeepers and staff are friendly and helpful and there is a good cafe.

well kept tree lined course interspersed with ditches - some quite wide - on several holes which require careful planning of club use when approaching.This makes it a challenging course which means quite a variation in scoring.

Vast improvement of the course.Whilst most fairways have been shortened and narrowed,the rough has been cut to managable levels so that the game is not held up unduly.

this muni is always a pleasure to play and always in good nick last 4 holes are not easy with the 17 par 3 over a ditch always causes a few problems with club selection

Value for money
Not bad at all. Great value for money. In good condition, even after a night of heavy rain.Only criticism relates to a couple of the pathways from green To tee - muddy, could do with some gravel or something similar.
Greens in good condition.
I?ll return and play again

Nice parkland course
I last played this course over 30 years ago. On my recent visit I was pleased to find the course much better than I remembered it. It's a nice parkland course with some challenging holes. Greens were in good condition.Can't comment on club facilities as it was closed due to social distancing.

Great course for a municipal, couple of very tough holes. Tee boxes could do with a bit of work. would recommend.

Course in pretty good condition considering all the dry weather through april & may, hopefully now we have had a bit of rain work will be carried out on the green and tees and obviously the rest of the course. tough course with a really tough last 4 holes, well worth a visit and wont break the bank ! will be back for another game soon.Reviewer Rating

This course is on the way back up!
Formerly Ellesmere Port Golf Course, also known as Hooton Golf Club, this course has just been taken over by the Ian Woosnam Golf Academy and it is clear to see that much work has already been done to improve course conditions. Recent mindless vandalism has damaged some greens but they are starting to recover and with the backing of Ian Woosnam this course should be a delight to play very soon.The course is not easy, with an excellent variety of tree lined holes that make accuracy important if you want to score well.
I'd recommend a visit if you're in the area.
