Course in very good condition and the recent changes (extended 5th and 18th) have added to a varied and interesting course.

Paying a lot more for my round than I usually would, £30 for a twilight time, I had high hopes for Effingham. Perhaps because of that added expectation, Effingham didn't quite hit the mark for me.
That's not to say that this isn't a lovely course, because it really is. The are some very pretty looking holes, especially on the back 9, and the views towards London are exceptional.
The fairways are generally pretty wide, which is good because when you leave the fairway there's some pretty mean rough. The greens were very smooth and ran fairly well, although as a group we felt that the speeds between greens were fairly inconsistent. Again, maybe that's us being a little picky given the cost.
Would I go back? I probably would, although I am certain there are better courses for the money.

simply brilliant !!!
in the winter after a night of heavy rain you can rock up and know the course will be open there will be no standing water and you wont even get your shoes muddy.In the summer it plays like a different course the rough is up (long and wispy , punishing ,but you can still find your ball)and the greens are firm and fast and very tricky to read.The views of London from the top of the course are amazing and after a great round of golf you can enjoy a pint in the magnificent old club house.

At no time has the term fantastic draining course been more accurate. Given the wettest winter on record this Colt Gem simply absorbs! Fantastic traditional venue with a really welcoming feel about the place. Refurbished Elizabeth Lounge adds a touch of class to a genuine year round facility. Highly recommended.

Fantastic venue; great course (doesn't look difficult but if you go in the rough, you are really punished), the greens are fast and true and well protected. The clubhouse is lovely, both comfortable with large changing rooms, and excellent food. Well worth a visit; I'll be back soon.

Fantastic course all year round great greens, Winter golf is great with greens in play and trollies and buggies allowed! fairways excellent with plenty of grass, bunkers very playable. Clubhouse staff very welcoming and pleasant.

Great place for Winter golf with fast draining through the chalk base. Staff friendly and welcoming. Better golfers would benefit from White/Black tees but Yellows tough enough for me!

Simply a very good course. In November the fairways were very firm and greens good. Generous fairways and should be enjoyable for different standards of golfer. Pleasant setting in rural Surrey although not too far away from London. Good value in winter.

Wasn't sure what to expect but a little disappointed. This course hosts Open qualifiers in summer so you'd expect a top notch course. However, off the yellows in winter, this wasn't much of challenge, despite the strong winds. The fairways are quite wide and generous. The greens have been left to grow (I presume to protect them) so were very very slow and bobbly. Not great value at £40. Although the pro shop and clubhouse staff were very welcoming.
