What the club says: Ranked by Golf World in England's Top 100, and sitting high atop the North Downs with breathtaking views of the London Skyline, Effingham Golf Club is a traditional members’ club with a distinctly modern outlook.
Spring 2018 marked the grand opening of our newly designed course by leading golf architects Mackenzie & Ebert who have enhanced our classic Harry Colt masterpiece with spectacular results. With an easy and exhilarating walk over immaculate chalky subsoil fairways, our championship course is regarded as the best draining inland course in the south east offering simply superb year round golf.
Since Harry Colt first created the course in the 1920’s, the club has hosted numerous prestigious events, including the regional qualifier for The Open Championship from 2006 to 2010.
The club was also delighted to host the Southern Regional Qualifier for the English Men's Open Amateur Strokeplay Championship, The Brabazon Trophy , in May 2014 and has been selected to host the England Golf Senior Men's County Championship Final in October 2019.
Our listed Georgian Clubhouse epitomises Effingham Golf Club’s traditional values, providing superb modern facilities including a newly refurbished Pro Shop and GC2 Simulator/Swing Studio, Private Dining Rooms, Lounge Bar, spacious Changing Rooms and a beautiful Terrace overlooking the frills of the 18th green.
We are proud of the quality and choice of our food offering, both in the clubhouse and at our Halfway Hut, and understand that our hospitality is as important as the golf itself…….. for some at least!

New Course at Walton Heath
The course is predominantly flat and at some places intertwines with the old course. It is a fair challenge for most categories of golfer. It is pretty essential to make sure you hit straight off the tee in that there is plenty of heather to catch the stray shot. Even If you can find your ball, it is then a difficult shot out. The fairways and greens were in very good condition and the greens were very consistent. The clubhouse is excellent and staff were as ever first class. An enjoyable round of golf if not always straightforward.

Excellent
Played here as a guest and thoroughly enjoyed it. Well kept, in great condition. Nice and undulating with a lot of challenges. Excellent practice facilities and clubhouse. Worth a visit if you get the chance.

Great course

TCR
I have played dozens of top courses both in UK and Europe and after reading the great write ups about Effingham I was disappointed.I played there at the end of April and it was average. Big wide open spaces with nothing really memorable. Hidden gem my arse.
Grand clubhouse, nice staff and good food.
I would go back for breakfast, but that’s it. There are numerous golf course in the area within a similar price range which are better.

Great disappointment
I was really looking to play this great course again after many years, but what a disappointment!!! The greens were shocking... very bouncy and uneven making putting a real hit and hope. Very slow as wellFor a tip 100 course this is very poor value for money
(Round played: Nov 2018 - Score: 95 Handicap: 13.2)

Great Condition
considering the recent weather the course was in great shape, very challenging at times but forgiving in others, the greens were very well kept and the setting is devine(Round played: Aug 2018 - Score: 97 Handicap: 14.8)

Effingham Redesign
Played Effingham after all the bunkers have now been redesigned......... just wow! What an incredible difference. Stunning classic golfing layout thats in touch with modern times. Oh and the views of London arn't bad either. ????

Nice track
The weather has been awful up to the day but the course was in incredible condition. Really good club house and a thoroughly enjoyable day(Round played: May 2018 - Score: 90 Handicap: 19.5)

Dallaglio Charity Golf Day
Great Course, very well kept, greens very tricky and hard to read and manage throughout the round(Round played: Apr 2018 - Score: 79 Handicap: 7.6)

Disappointing
I was expecting a lot from effingham and had been meaning to play it for a while. Pretty much every hole had GUR which was disappointing for the price of the green fee. Fairways weren’t in great nick but it has rained for 2 weeks. Tough to get a smile from any of the staff. Lukewarm is the best word I can think of to describe the experience. Won’t go back. Not in the same class as burhill for example

Disappointing for the expensive green fee
Played at Effingham last weekDisappointed with the lack of welcome in the Pro Shop and didn’t think the October course conditions went close to justifying the green fee . Too Many bunkers and areas close to them on the back 9 were GUR and the greens were slower than many other courses we have played this month.
Not impressed for the green fee. Better value available elsewhere.
Shot 14 over Par .

(Round played: Apr 2017 - Score: 92 Handicap: 18)

(Round played: Sep 2016 - Score: 103 Handicap: 18.3) Lovely course in great condition. Tined recently but very playable greens. Bunkers being gradually altered to add challenge and interest to the course.

Fantastic course in fantastic condition and as always a joy to play
(Round played: Sep 2015 - Score: 111 Handicap: 28)

Excellent condition course, you wouldn't think it was November 15th, really nice.
