Good condition for the time of year
Course in good condition for this time of year. Not too muddy, greens playing well.(Round played: Feb 2022 - Score: 92 Handicap: 15.5)

Great challenge for higher handicappers
Played the East course twice over the weekend and really enjoyed the course. The greens were a little inconsistent having been recently spiked but assume this is not the normal condition you?d expect. We did find the pro shop staff not to be the most welcoming and hotel staff were a little disorganised but then it was the first weekend after lockdown so expect they just need to get back into the swing of things.
Excellent practice areas, with separate greens for putting, chipping and putting and approach play, along with a full driving range.

Great layout unfortunately due to hot weather course was very dry with mud and dust patches all over the place - disappointing considering the sprinkler system they have but don't consistently use - I would like to think this was down to restrictions on water use but that wasn't shared with us and for a premium location/facility you would expect them to have their own water supply from wells or capture systemsReviewer Rating

Nice course, good facilities
A decent venue to play golf. Prefer the east course to the west course. A good test of golf.(Round played: Jun 2019 - Score: 89 Handicap: 13.1)

Nice course, shame about the wind!
Nice golf course, although the greens were very slow after some green repair work. Very friendly guys around the pro shop and buggy area.Reviewer Rating

quality with a lack of class
My friends and I have been going to this complex for the last 7 years and always enjoyed it. This year seemed to be going the same way as the last 6 when we played the East course on the Saturday which was in great condition. We used the hotel facilities to relax after a few beers and all seemed fine. The food in the evening was nice, then after a few more beers we went to bed dreaming of what might have been and what we hoped for on the Sunday. After a buffet breakfast we headed to the pro shop to get tokens and score cards for the West course. After a good warm up we headed for the first tee. The starter said their had been some maintenance in the week but did not know what they had done. After some good tee shots we got to the 1st green where it become apparent what the maintenance had been, they had aerated the greens, IN AUGUST!!!! This was a complete shock and with no advanced warning, very annoying. Their was no email, no warning from the pro shop and no warning from the starter although their was a hint. After the round I approached the pro shop and asked why we had not been told, to say the member of staff I spoke to need some customer training skills is an understatement. All of us were very down after this and it truly spoilt what otherwise was a great weekend. I would advise anyone going their to check their maintenance program before you go

A great layout, watchout for the penal rough though!
Quite open for the most part, but hard to find your ball if you hit it in the deep rough. Fairways were in good condition for the time of year and the greens held a correct approach shot.(Round played: Jul 2018 - Score: 83 Handicap: 9.7)

Stay and play
The fairways and greens were pretty good considering the rain we’d had and the time of year (quite impressive really), elsewhere it was very soft and hard walking. We stayed and played and got a great deal, there was a little doubt whether we’d get out on the second day and a miserable marshal could have done with an exercise in guest relations as to manage expectations but we did play and conditions were better than day one. Worth a visit but I’d suggest a stay and play package to ensure value.(Round played: Feb 2018 - Score: 89 Handicap: 16.1)

Overated
Yes, this course is very well kept, has fast and true greens and offers great variety. However, having played both courses a handful of times, I would say that there are plenty of other courses locally that offer a much better experience for the money that you pay for a green fee here. Theres nothing special that you take away from the end of your round that is particularly memorable. Looking back at my round no holes stand out, just a load of quite long par 4's come to the front of my mind. I think the golf courses are massively hyped and feel that if either course stood alone as its own course and without the massive hotel, it would be a very average course. It felt to me that the only reason there is this hype about the course is that it has had a lot of money pumped into it.This course feels very corporate and sadly doesn't reflect the beautiful countryside of East Sussex. One round here is fun and worth doing however I would urge you to look at other courses nearby especially Piltdown (a much more challenging, better kept and interesting golf course) and Lewes that offer a more personal and memorable round for a fraction of the price.

frustrating greens if putting from above the hole
I found the greens very challenging. Too many pins placed at the bottom of slopes. Fairways were very generous. Tee boxes were quite worn and dry.(Round played: Jun 2017 - Score: 82 Handicap: 7.3)
