Abysmal

Absolutely shocking. The course was a mud bath and would not have been open if it wasn't for four societies being booked on.
One hole was closed due to being to wet but every other hole was more mud that grass. Fairways clearly hadn't been cut in over a week.
Playing Sunday league on the course would have been tough but golf nigh on impossible.
The club took the money over the course and it will take a long time for this to recover.
Good job it was a very cheap deal we got!

Booked a round through On Line Tee Times. Price was £9. Arrived at the hotel / course - easy enough to find - and lots of parking available. However, in the car park some other golfers noticed we were loading up our trolleys. We were told no trolleys allowed. I'd checked the De Vere website before setting off and there was no mention of this. The guy at the booking office confirmed the website didn't mention it - it was something they'd have to look in to. What it meant was we had to pay an extra £4 each to hire a trolley with hedgehog wheels. Do us a favour, This was a money spinning exercise. The course condition was fine - in fact apart from the bunkers, which played with hard compact sand the course was in very good condition. If they were serious about looking after the course they'd have said no metal spikes allowed and no playing off the fairways - but they didn't. Apparently they have different ratings for trolley use. All Trolleys allowed, powered trolleys allowed, hedgehog wheels allowed, none allowed. My advice, ring up in advance. If I'd known, I'd have taken my stand bag. The weather here over the last week has been excellent so I didn't expect the trolley thing. I've no problem with trolleys being banned but not to mention it on their website is annoying.

Course planners are available - price £5 and are ok. On the course, at least half the tees were played off the red tees so the course played very short (yellow and red virtually side by side). You could play your ball where ever you liked but all the pins were set at the front of the greens. The greens themselves seemed to be in very good condition. In fact the whole course was in good condition apart from the bunkers. Playing off the red tees meant a lot of the teeth of the course were removed. A couple of the par 3's were more like pitch and put holes and the water you'd normally have to drive over on some of the holes was taken out of play. I'm glad I played with someone who knew where they were going as it wasn't the easiest course to navigate around. It's not what you'd call hilly although some of the fairways are quite narrow in places and slope right to left or left to right so you need to think where you're going to land the ball.

I'd not pay the normal price of £40 week day - certainly don't think it's worth that (but the reduced price was ok so I'll review based on that price) and like I say I'd advise ringing before hand to find out what tees are being used and what type of trolley are allowed on the day you go. However,it was a pleasant way to spend a sunny March day but I doubt I'll be going back.

They shouldn't be charging full price in wet conditions definitely a summer course if to re visit

Great two days spoiled by huge slow group

Took over 5 hours to get round both rounds as behind a society/group of 30+ some of whom were clearly not golfers. Evening meal was average choice of curry or pasta and cheesecake. Not a three course meal and no choice like other places. Fortunately, great weather and company meant a good time was had apart from the pace. Bar manager at night very miserable.

Sunday driver

Played this course loads of times and love the layout but on this occasion the tee boxes and greens were not at their best.Probably struggled with the dry weather like most courses but it was much better back in June when I last visited.Benefit of the doubt on this occasion as it's usually a really nice track.
